It seems to be missing from the list of fdr models, so I would say no. Sony FDR Series: FDR-AX100 AXP55 AX53 AX40 AX33 AX30

Will this charge the battery also?

I have charged the battery to my Sony DCR-SR47 while it was attached to the camcorder many times. That enables you to charge the battery and record at the same time. Hope that this helped.

does this work with hdr-hx550?

don't know what you are working on but if the voltage is right and the amperage is wright and it will plug in then i would say yes.
