Well intended Book but not for a universal audience
Unlike early Muslim historians like Al-Tabari, Ibn Ishaq; Modern Muslim historians take a non-objective and uncritical approach to the Prophet"s Life History and they usually write it as a work of piety than a work of history. That is the primary reason why I prefer to read different accounts and historical analysis from different writers. Karen Armstrong is obviously a major scholar in the field of "History of Religion" and "History of God". Having read the book; I get the impression that this book is not meant for a universal audience. Karen has written this book specifically for western audience. This is a quick, accessible and popular history book of the early Muslim history. Although the book was written with a good intention to inform and clear people prejudices or misperception of the Prophet/ Muslims in general, I don't find it to be a detailed or a critical biography. So if you are looking for some critical historical analysis, skip this.
