Works Better than Expected
I was leary after reading some of the review for this press. Fear of having broken glass in my bacon was not appealing. However the price was right and enough reviewers were having success that I decided to give it a shot. It's first use put my fear to rest. This device works great. Besides allowing me to cook flat bacon, I'm using less heat when cooking. Bacon cooks faster and more evenly with reduced splatter.Yes, it does get greasy, but that's nothing that the dishwasher hasn't taken care of.So far, no breakage. I don't anticipate any either. The glass is tempered which means it will handle more extreme temperatures than standard glass. That doesn't mean it is unbreakable. Like all glass cookware, you can't bang it around or put undue stresses across its surface. It is much less likely to break when treated as if its made of glass! When I'm finished, I always set mine on paper towels on a flat surface to cool slightly. Then I put it in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes and wash accordingly. I always store it flat, in a cabinet which isn't subject to being "re-arranged" frequently so it won't get jostled. So far, so good. The egg rings work as expected. If you make sure they have good contact with the bottom of the pan and are coated with whatever oil you are using, you'll have very little problem. Obviously a flat bottomed pan works best. I use them with my cast iron skillets. Yes, sometimes they leak, but it's not a big deal. And they clean up easily; I throw them in the dishwasher as well.

Use the glass press and toss the knob
This is my second order. The egg rings I throw away as i don't like them as they scratch the coating of my pans and tend to be hard to clean near joints with egg. The glass plate knob which has received a lot of complaints which I might add are very valid don't try plastic screws as they will melt in the metal threads pressed into the knob. I just take the knobs off and use a spatula to lift and remove the plate. Need the spatula anyway to remove the HOT bacon from the microwave plate so it is a no brainer.I wish that these could be purchased with a larger diameter. Or rectangular. I am currently using Progressive Prep Solutions Microwave Bacon Grill with Cover to cook my bacon see review .

Great bacon press, useless egg rings
The bacon press is great, I use it all the time, it has held up well. Water does collect under the handle during washing but seems to drain fine. I like being able to see the bacon through the glass to know when it's time to take them out. With this press you don't have to flip the bacon, it cooks evenly on both sides. I also like that this won't scratch my teflon cookware like the cast iron ones would. There is a metal screw head on the bottom that I am careful to keep out of contact with the pan. Not really a problem as its usually on a piece of bacon. The egg rings are useless though. They leak egg out the bottom because they are not perfectly flat, and hard to clean egg out of the joint where the handle is. I've had better quality, thicker ones that worked much better. I considered them a freebie that came with the bacon press so I'm not disappointed.

Use it for "BACON IN EVERY BITE"
Actually, this is one of the few things that works right - the way I want it to work. So, let's start with the picture. Not a bad way to keep your bacon from looking like a herd of mobius strips. If you really want tender, flavorful, chewy bacon, cover them with just enough water and then cook - you can google it, can't you. I'm reviewing this product, but sharing a secret. But, where this baby excels is in a way they don't advertise. Let's start with the concept of "bacon in every bite". To do that, you need to make a "bacon weave" (have I said, google it?). Then place the round glass press over it and visually turn when it gets brown and OILA! Making a bacon weave is VERY difficult from a cooking perspective. The only way I had found to do it previously was to use 12" and 10" cast iron skillets; make the bacon weave, place it in the 12" skillet. Use some non-stick oil spray on the bottom of the 10" skillet which is then placed on top of the bacon weave. BUT, you can't see the progress of the cooking which this glass bacon press simplifies. I would buy this to make a bacon weave alone. The egg rings are a plus.

Effective and easy
Notes after one use: Teflon griddle, gas burner. Five half-slices fit well closely spaced; seven would. The press has a bolt head sticking down from its middle, be sure that’s on a slice of bacon to avoid scratching griddle. Easy to observe doneness, lift press if unsure. Place press on folded paper towels to catch grease when through. Disadvantage: bacon strips weld together at corners. Advantage: no bacon mist on range, cook’s glasses!Egg ring: fried egg in ring, in hot bacon grease; pre-sprayed ring with Pam per instructions. Had to push a little leaking egg white back under edge of ring with turner. Easy to tell when done, edges turn brown. No sticking to ring or griddle. Both eat well; easy to separate welded bacon with fork.

Can't stand the heat
First of all, it makes great bacon, and quickly. I was very happy with that, until I washed it, and discovered that water gets trapped between the handle and the glass, which means you have to take it apart and reassemble it every time you wash it....which is every time you use it. But that's not why I returned it. After my second use, I discovered when putting the handle back on, that the plastic grommet attached to the glass had melted from the heat of the skillet. I had never put it in the dishwasher, so the only heat it experienced was during normal use, in the skillet. It's too bad, this press really turns out superior bacon in less time, but it can't stand the heat...so it's getting out of my kitchen.

Weak and filmsy
The ring is not fitting on the pan. It will let eggs roll out. The bacon press is also useless because the middle screw sticks out. The egg rings also got lose after using it a few times. All in all, poorly made and cheap built.

Missing the important part
Received yesterday, package was intact and box appeared to be factory sealed ,the only thing in the box was the instruction sheet...glass press and nylon bushing and the 2 piece handle .Missing the egg rings ( not wanted anyhow ) but most importantly the special screw & washer to hold the handle onto the glass. It is a fine threaded screw and I would assume it would be a tapered head to set flush and not be sticking out & not a very common item .Waste of time and money .

Works beautifully with the bacon
Works beautifully with the bacon, it provides cooking more uniformly and without curling. The egg moulds work fine but require a pan surface that is perfectly flat, and that is not always the case.

WRONG "SCREW' FOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY
Product arrived with a pin instead of a threaded screw, so handle was not able to be assembled. AM hoping that replacement will have the threaded screw.
