Beautiful, functional and will last a lifetime if you take care of it.
This board is beautiful and very good quality. I just started using it. And it's so smooth to cut on. It makes it very easy. The weight is nice for this size and it keeps very stable with the rubber feet. I did get a good oil wax for it and I plan on taking very good care of it for years to come. I'm very happy with this purchase.

The last board youโll ever need!
I was thoroughly surprised with the performance of this board. To preface: Iโm an executive chef with 16 years of professional experience. When unboxing this board (video in the unboxing section), my eyes gleamed with joy as I looked at the deeply decadent walnut used to craft this masterpiece. As a chef, a super luxury looking/feeling cutting board is always a pleasure to have. This Alfred board hit every spot for me. Aside from the color, the wood is so smooth, and It can with stand a lot of pressure from high volume chopping. The rubber feet on each of the corners really prevent any board movement and gives you an overall secure feeling. There are two sides to this board. One with three nicely sized compartments to house your prep while you are making a dish, as well as, a traditional carving side with a juice reservoir to catch all of those drippings. The reservoir works like any other board, however, the depth is what really sets It aside. Iโve noticed (over the years) that a lot of boards donโt have deep enough channels and your juices either fill It up, or they spill when youโre trying to move the board. The Alfred board is able to hold a lot of volume, keeping your workspace very tidy. Clean board, clean food. The three compartments on the flip side are also nicely sized. They are great for the home cook preparing any type of meal. What really has me enamored with this board is the satisfying โclinkโ sound when my knife hits It as Iโm cutting. It is nice to see the board provide some gusto back at me. The strength of the wood does not easily mark, even with a sharp knife and quite a bit of pressure. This board definitely has attitude and It shows It. Cleaning for this board is a breeze. Oil and fats wipe clean away. I advise against scrubbing this board with anything coarse. I would also like to add that It is an amazing backdrop for food photography. I recommend this board for home use and in a professional kitchen. It is an absolutely stellar product and It shows in its thoughtfulness. It would make a great gift for a home cook, chef, food blogger, food stylist, or wood enthusiast.

STUNNING high-quality cutting board, top-notch customer service from company owners
Quality: The quality of the cutting board is amazing! It looks stunning in my kitchen, cuts down on my needing to sharpen my knives, and is a great quality board that I expect to last many years to come! The grooves on the edges are nice for catching fluids, just be careful and make sure they are dried out after use. It's also got a dual purpose for presenting food when you flip it over, which I love! Another cool feature is you can place it on its side if you need more counter space and it will stay up. Customer Service: They are the kindest owners of any business, ever. I had an issue where one of the legs for the cutting board was missing and I went to their website here and emailed them: https://sonderla.com/pages/contactus I talked to Tarek the co-founder and he was the most friendly person, I never knew someone could be so chipper and kind over an email! He is so proud of his business and you can tell he put his heart and soul into it. I learned that he and his significant other kicked it off together and so itโs a small family owned business that cares a lot about quality. He shipped me an extra leg in the mail for free once I provided my address, but sadly it got lost. I felt terrible asking for another one, and he shipped two to me (one spare!) and I got them successfully! Care: Make sure you keep the board as dry as possible once you are done using it. Wipe it dry with a towel. And, if you rinse it in the sink, also make sure you dry it out afterwards. When I spoke to Tarek, his recommendation for oil was: "Also, as a friendly reminder, please make sure to oil your board every 3 weeks to ensure the wood fibers don't break down. It's kind of like watering a plant. Without regular oiling, the wood board won't give you the years you'd hope. Food grade mineral oil or an oil blend of that with beeswax mixed in should be perfect." I bought the Boos Block Mystery Oil. I put it on with a paper towel (you can use gloves or your hands if you wash them really well), and then let it soak in overnight every 3 weeks and it works great! Then I just wipe of any excess the following morning. I didn't really know how to use this, so I found a quick 2 min tutorial here: Boos Block Care (Expert Tips) Final Notes: I highly, highly recommend you try out this board because of the superb quality, itโs a beautiful part of any kitchen, and lastly the people who make it really care about customer service and put their heart into this business. You will be buying from really good people who want to make a good product!, and will do anything to right a mistake because they want you to be happy with the item

Follow cleaning and maintenance Instructions. And pat it once in awhile and tell it you love it.
This cutting is absolutely gorgeous. Exactly as described. It arrived a couple of days ago in the most beautiful box - I hate to even throw the box away! Packaged with care. Quality is superb! Of course, it is more expensive than the other many, many cutting boards out there, but this will last a lifetime. I've thrown away a lot of boards in the past. I wish I could show you the beautiful pictures I took (including the box), but for some reason (probably operator error) I wasn't able to download.

Beautifully crafted cutting boards and great customer service!
I bought this cutting board on the recommendation of my son, who has two. It is lovely, beautifully made and crafted with care. I absolutely love it! When I had a small crack in the side, I wasn't sure what to do. I reached out to Sonder and they were so helpful. I worked with Kate. I didn't know that living in Colorado in high elevation would require me to oil my cutting board more often, thus the crack. My son in Seattle has enough humidity to where he does not have to oil his as often as I will here in Colorado. Kate was amazing and she replaced the cutting board and gave me a great recommendation for an oil that will help keep my cutting board moist and hopefully keep it from cracking. I love supporting small businesses as the big companies always seem to win and they don't care about the craftmanship or the quality of their products let alone the customer service that is sometimes needed. Kate and Sonder not only have beautiful products, but they are awesome when it comes to people. I am planning on looking at what other products they sell. They are a great company and their products are beautifully hand crafted.

Fantastic Product! Updated 12/3/2020
This product is beautiful out of the box, but fell apart within weeks of normal use. I cook only a few times per week and always hand wash my cutting boards, however within a shocking amount of time the glue came apart at the corners. The wood has become so warped that when I use it, the entire cutting board rocks and is unstable. This began only a few weeks after using it, and has only worsened with time. It's now so bad I have to go cutting board shopping again. I was expecting this to last more than a few months, this should not be advertised as a cutting board, but a serving board. This is unacceptable for a product at this price point and I regret wasting my money on this product. *UPDATE 12/3/2020 - I reached out to the company to inquire about the warranty as they have pointed out in other poor reviews, and they sent me a replacement board for free. The customer service at this company is phenomenal and obviously care quite a lot about their products. I have raised my rating for that alone, as well as the fact that the replacement board got here very quickly and is of great craftsmanship. No extra pieces of glue or other defects noted on the new board. The company recommends to oil this board about every 3 weeks with mineral oil, which is slightly more frequently than what I was doing previously. Hopefully this will stand the test of time and this review will be updated as such.

High quality board that is a pleasure to prep on.
As a retired chef I'm picky when it comes to what type of chopping board I like to use for food prep. Wood boards are my preferred choice for home use and this walnut end grain board is such a pleasure to cut on and looks beautiful on my kitchen counter. Size is perfect for everyday use, big enough for prep work but still fits in my sink for ease of cleaning. Note: For carving roasts or whole chickens you would want a larger board. I oil it every 2 weeks and never submerge it in water, which is a must with this type of board...if taken care of diligently, it should last for many years of use.

Not worth it
Not worth the price. Tough like sand paper. Catches on everything. Difficult to clean. No amount of conditioning correct the issue. Definitely not worth the price.

Beautiful looking cutting board
Have been looking everywhere specifically for an end grain cutting board (the end grains move apart when slicing usually) made out of walnut (softer than maple so gentler on knives) that has drip grooves (meats and fruits spills annoy me) on one side for my growing collection of Japanese knives. The 3 little cutout compartments on the other side were icing on the cake. Also, I didn't want to pay the world for it. This board seemed like the perfect fit! Have ordered some food grade mineral oil for this board to help look after it and hope it lasts for quite some time as it would be a pain to warranty it in Australia!
