Trekking in the Nepal Himalaya (Lonely Planet Trekking in the Nepal Himalaya)

We trekked to EBC in April 2012 and the book was definitely worth the minimal cost for the tips provided. Insights into must see places of interest, tips for the experience in Kathmandu and the Thamel area. Really suggest you take advantage of the Lonely Planet web site. The regulars on that site are very helpful

I really liked the description of trails, the trekking rating and the explanation of how the country works. On the other hand, it is not very helpful to find local travel agencies, they list 30 but none of them semms to exist in Internet ! Even though this was a minor problem this guide really helped us to plan the trip to Nepal

The maps in this book are great (detailed and the book will be my traveling companion). Also day-to-day trekking routes, and extra day trip ideas all provided. Helpful tips, advise on when to go and things to expect to see. A must have for trekking.

The guide was fantastic on my Annapurna Trek. From navigating to shopping, I used it at every turn. Two friends had it on their Kindle. It was good to have the paper version, though. And I can't wait to go back to Nepal!

It was vacum packed, so it was just as big as the book itself, so I got it trough my mail hatch. It's great that I didn't even have to pick it up at the mail office!!! Also it was on my floor within a month from ordering, very, very, very nice. Great book by the way :)

Sadly I was looking for specific information on the Dolpo region and found this guide to be lacking in that area

Very detailed book. Provide numerous routes and trails across the Himalayas. Additional info regarding first-aid, itineraries, culture are also included. Highly recommended for seasoned and new trekkers / explorers alike.

The book is good, with lots of interesting tidbits. Because of the title "himalaya", I thought it would be focused solely on Himalaya. But there is a lot of material on the southern regions of Nepal as well

Nachdem wir letztes Jahr im Oktober mit dem LP Trekking Guide in Nepal sowie dem Loose Country Guide Nepal unterwegs waren, möchte ich kurz mein Feedback wiedergeben. Wir waren individuell auf dem Annapurna Base Camp Trek 10 Tage unterwegs. Die Angaben im LP was die einzelnen Tourenabschnitte angeht, waren sehr präzise und immer noch aktuell (im Gegensatz zu unserer Karte). Was die Gehzeiten angeht ist der LP eher an moderat fitten Leute orientiert, wir sind meistens noch ein ganzes Stück weitergegangen bis zur nächsten Lodge. Ich wüsste nicht wo uns der LP irgendwo einmal im Stich gelassen hat. Auch die Angaben zur Vorbereitung von Trekking-Touren waren sehr hilfreich, so das sich dieser Guide für die Standard Trekking Gebiete sehr gut eignet. Eine herausnehmbare Karte für die Hauptregionen Annapurna und Kumbu würde ich mir für die Zukunft wünschen, aber das ist ja generell ein Manko bei den LP-Guides. Nachtrag zu meiner 2. Nepalreise im April 2014: 2014 ging es nochmal mit dem LP nach Nepal. Dieses Mal für den Everest-Gokyo Trek. Auch hier erwiess sich das Buch wieder als guter Reisebegleiter. Die Reiseroute wird umfangreich beschrieben. Lediglich die Empfehlung den Kalar Patar am frühen Morgen zu besuchen, kann ich nicht empfehlen. Dafür waren die umfangreichen Tipps zur Aklimatisierung und Höhenkrankheit auf diesem Trek Gold wert. Kann dieses Buch daher für individuelle Trekker auf den Standard Routen nur empfehlen!

I trekked to EBC in Oct 2012, this book includes the biggest and most well-known treks around Nepal, and the descriptions of those treks are very detailed and comprehensive. The maps provided are accurate and helpful. If you are looking for alternatives or treks off the beaten tourist tracks, few of the featured routes fit that bill. In addition, there are very few short (less than 4 days) treks, and almost no routes within close proximity to Kathmandu. This book is good if you are coming to Nepal for less than a month and only want to hit one or two of the major treks. I sat reading the book once in Kathmandu seeking places to visit and things to do, defo a good read

j'ai acheté ce livre pour communiquer plus facilement avec mon guide local qui ne parle que l'anglais et pour pouvoir définir a&vec lui les prochaines destinations.Ce guide est bien fait et trés lisible pour les personnes dont l'anglais n'est pas leur langue maternelle mais il a vieilli , certaines "routes" ont été profondément modifiées et d'autres sont apparues. Aussi une nouvelle édition serait la bienvenue et je pense qu'une remise à jour tous les 2 ans serait nécessaire.

ネパールのトレッキングに出かける方には必携です。 行程やバリエーションを含めたルートが出ており、地図も入っているので大変に便利です。 ただ文字が小さすぎるのが厳しいです。携帯を考えるとしかたないのかな。 日本語の類書はないので無二のガイドブックです。
