A History of the Middle East: 5th Edition

Quality of printing is excellent. No flaw in anything related to book cover page, pages or printing. Content has well covered the subject.

Is this a Penguin book? I doubt. I think it's a fake print because the page quality is very poor. While I'd seen a couple of reviews on these lines but decided to purchase it because the Book is what it is - superb! I'm not returning it, because I don't see any other publishers.

Excellent analysis of historical facts and their present consequences not only on the particular region but entire globe. The history of Ottoman empire, the greatest Muslim dynasty of world, its downfall and emergence of new world order after the two world war, which entirely changed the middle east region, was very informative to understand the current turmoil of the region. The influence of European powers in the region aggravated the problems instead of resolving them. Thanks to writers for a true and unbiased analysis of historical facts.

Nice book ...good knowledgeable things

After many tries, got hand on the book, but it left me disappointed, the paper quality is bad, had returned it once for the same reason but again received the same paper quality. That just makes reading experience not worth the excitement. Charge high price but at least provide good quality paperback.

It's a secondhand book; I have no problem with secondhand books, but the seller must disclose correct facts about the book. It's unfortunate. The book is classic, no doubt in every paragraph, on every page, the brilliance of Mansfield and Pelham is evident. Scribbling all over. But the seller's approach is unethical.

Paper quality could have been improved.

Very good content for who wants to dive into the history of several countries of MENA. It can be dense for some people. It has served as an introduction to the subject for me, which deserves further studies from MENA authors.

This is a very well-written and thoughtful summary of complicated events that Americans know little about. It is most helpful in giving context to current events in the middle east.

The author presents a mass of information on the evolution of Middle East politics, with each other and with the outside world but the book remains readable. He brings out the importance of the different factions both within and across the countries of the region, which is a great aid to getting to grips with current developments.

Despite being sold as the 4th edition, what you will receive is the third. I'm not sure if there actually is a (relevantly different) 4th edition nor I'm not displeased with the book itself. I am, however, rather annoyed at how unclear this page is: The book description says this is the 4th edition. When looking inside, you see the second edition (with a note that you will be purchasing the book you originally viewed, aka the 4th). And when enlarging the main picture, it shows the cover of the third. Given that I was shown three different editions, I assumed that the title would tell me which one I am actually purchasing. I assumed wrong. So for other people who consider purchasing this book: it's a good book. But it is the third edition that you will be receiving, not - despite the misleading title - the fourth. (As for the book, I have seen that other people have already written comprehensive reviews, so I will not add to that and simply refer to those.)
