Perfect Fit

Item being sold by A W Meyer co marked for a smaller jointer, thinner blade, shorter blade, and much less height. The package shows this, the 879208 is hand written on the outside. Thinner blades mean clamp-up force not up to original spec, shorter blades (@ 1/4") mean very shorter life. Bolt holes close but not exact. As a Millwright (outside machinist) I consider using this item on a F1000A as marginal to dangerous. Avoid this SCAM

As another reviewer mentioned, these blades don't fit the old Hitachi P 12RA jointer/planer combo. While these blades are the correct thickness, they're about 3/16" too long and 5/16" too wide. Worse yet, the two outside slots are about 3/16" off-center from the original blades making it impossible to seat the blades.

These seemed well made, and the shipping was very fast. I took a chance buying these, but Unfortunately, they don't fit my old hatachi combination jointer/planer model. No one makes those knives any more. It wasn't the vendor's fault. I returned them unused, and got a full refund that same day.

I’ve tried to submit this review twice before but Amazon rejected it for some reason they never defined, I think because of pictures I included to illustrate some points made in the review. This time I try the brief version without photos. These blades are excellent, exactly the same as those that came with my Hitachi 1000a jointer/planer when I bought it over 40 years ago. I wanted a second set of both 6” and 12” blades to swap out while the other blades went in for resharpening. I was happy to find they’re still available after all this time. These are original OEM, made in Japan, not a knock-off, as my former photos tried to show. These are original bi-metal blades, a hardened cutting edge bound to a softer steel body, very Japanese, very nice, but not carbide. You can resharpen these yourself with water or ceramic stones and an appropriate jig. The blade edges are extremely tough, but diamond stones are not necessary to resharpen them. Professional resharpening costs around. 75-cents per inch at current prices in Denver, so I send mine out. Having a second set of blades on hand to use in the meanwhile is a luxury.
