The book will be very useful for students who have never studied public policy and who have never never written a public policy proposal. The book is clearly written and concise. It contains a sample proposal and also covers the important topic of not-for-profit organizations. As the title indicates, the book has a focus on the practical, which is comforting to students who may feel lost in the complex world of policy analysis and development.

This book is the best of the best in policy. It's not long, but man, is it thorough. Not to mention excellently written. If you have anything to do with policy, you need this in your library--it's a great resource.

This is also a very good, easy to read and easy to apply book. I did my practicum in the U.N and developed couple of policy documents and I found this book very helpful in writing the policy document. It gave me a step by step guide from collecting evidences, reviewing them and organizing my review and to do table talk / focus group discussions and consensus building meetings on policy recommendations. I did write the policy document and it was approved. I am happy that I have this book and I will keep it with me for my future endeavors in my public health career.

I have tried to purchase all my Doctoral textbooks as Kindle editions; however, I have found that none of these books have page numbers. It is more than crucial for researchers to be able to refer to specific page numbers during writing. Every time I use a Kindle edition book, I have to ask my professor's permission (not always granted) to not cite page numbers due to it being a Kindle edition. Please consider providing Kindle books with page numbers. Thank you, Doreen

Easy to read and full of usable information. Because it is a good reference book, I would recommend not getting an e-version for this one. Hard to skip around.

Great textbook and/or introductory learning material for public policy making. Good thought guiding material for writing papers, crafting policy, and studying hard for tests.
