Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary (Dorland's Medical Dictionary)

Excellent tool for anyone in any branch of the medical professions. I work in HIM, and recently with a software upgrade, we no longer have access to the electronic version of Dorland's, so I decided to get my own hard copy to always have the information I need at hand. There are always terms you don't recognize, or terms you may have heard, but don't really know the correct meanings of . Even before we had the electronic version in the office, we always had the hard copy dictionary in the office. With fewer HIM offices buying books to aid their employees, this is a good investment, and it's not something you have to replace every year or two.

This dictionary appears to be very thorough. The fonts are very clear and legible including the pronunciation keys for each term. To assist in locating each term more quickly, they are printed in boldface maroon. There are many excellent full-color photographs and illustrations throughout the text. The binding appears to be very strong for a book with over 2000 pages, yet lays flat wherever you find yourself in the text. I am very pleased with my purchase and the price. Delivery was right on time, and the shipment was well protected.

This is one of the best medical dictionary out there. Has lots of useful illustrations.

I have looked through the book and it is a prime example of Elsevier publishing. The printing and binding are excellent. The only thing I would change is the type size but there are a lot of definitions in this book so as it is it is a great reference. I wanted something to help with understanding medical terms and have found that there is a fair amount of crossover into other s sciences such as botany and paleontology.

The book is a great book and very important resource. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I bought the book brand new and the resource pages in the back were ripped in half and missing. It doesn't affect me reading it but if I would have purchased it at the store I probably would have gone back and exchanged it for one with the pages intact.

Love this book- I use it daily for studying and work purposes (I'm a resident). Shipping was fast- condition of book was better than I expected. Overall, great experience with this book company, and recommend them without reservation.

I had the normal paper Dorland's for many years, which I had to put on a stand to read and use a magnifying lens to see. Now, I have this magnificent digital version which I can put on my left monitor to consult while translating into English on my right monitor. what more can I ask for? It helps me immensely in my work.

Not really used it yet, purchased to help with new job, looks great. I am very pleased with it at I had it recommended.

Dà definizioni sintetiche ma complete per ogni termine medico, si può usare nella versione cartacea o anche in quella online, (credenziali incluse nel libro cartaceo) molto utile per trovare subito la parola ricercata. Utilissimo soprattutto nei primi anni di studio ma anche per consultazione quando non si è mai sentito parlare di una sindrome, di un aspetto istologico o altro: fornisce un'inquadramento rapido, lasciando poi modo di approfondire su altre fonti.
