Mantova Italian Pesto Genovese, 6.5-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4)

If you've made basil pesto from scratch, you know that it's somewhat a labor of love to gather & prep the fresh ingredients, process it, & then get it all out of the processor. This ready-made pesto is a very close second to what I make, so I'm all about having this in the pantry or fridge, ready to go at a moments notice. BONUS: expiration date is 22 months away. When this arrived, I was anxious to try it even though I wasn't especially hungry ~ a quick snack I made that instantly sold me was to spread the pesto on naan bread, top it w/ winter greens, roma tomato & feta cheese, then toast it briefly under the broiler ~ the impromptu mini pizza was delicious, & the versatility of using a little or a lot as needs arise is just one more plus for me.

not horrible but, not quite the pesto taste i expected. expected somewhat of a fesher more balanced pesto taste but, this one has a slight bitter taste, is overloaded with basil which is overpowered the rest of ingredients, on the garlicky/salty side and it turned the ricotta cheese brownish yellow (previous pesto i got in a hellofreh meal did not do this). yes, it added flavor to lasagna but, not any of that greeny herb taste i expected. Still i was willing to keep using these anyways since overall flavor is not horrible BUT, hmmm hellooo why does label say to refrigerate and use within THREE days after opening?? is that why there are no pic of back of jar label info?? i would of not bought this had i known i had to use it all within 3 days thats for sure.. so basically, i used 2 tbsps out of a jar on friday and have no need for more till this coming friday so if i go by jar label i can't use first opened jar anymore and need to open another sealed jar.. grrr, think i will go learn to make my own if all these commercial pesto have such a short open and use by life!!

This pesto is quite decent. There are other reviews here where people complain about flavor, and my guess is those folks are used to Americanized tasting Pesto rather than the real deal. This pesto tastes Italian. I do not give it 5 stars because I believe that there are brands such as Tigullio that are much better, but in overall it is a decent buy.

The flavor of this pesto is one of the best. I don't know where I originally purchased it so when an online search turned up on Amazon for this specific pesto I grabbed it!!!!!!! This pesto and pasta----- primo!!!!!!

I gave these as Christmas gifts after our italian riveria vacation. so it took a couple weeks but friends started telling me what they used it on. loved it I guess so now I need to try it myself and start giving food as gifts. we talk about having a pesto party! try it on green salads is what I have heard the most.

This is an excellent pesto. The brand I used to buy was discontinued and so I tried several alternatives. This came out the winner. Good flavor and texture, very close to home made.

This tasted so bad and I am not allowed to return it!! I eat pesto everyday and have for a year now. I use it on sliced tomatoes that I roast for 8 minutes then add a bit of parmesan cheese. This tasted so nasty I couldn't believe it, it tasted like it was bad. I threw them all away. How pesto can taste bad AND this bad I have no idea unless it has gone bad!
