I love the Xylophone! It is IN TUNE!! As musician and music teacher I believe having an in tune instrument is extremely important because a child learns to hear pitches by listening to the music he/she is surrounded with. So many "kid" instruments are horribly out of tune, thus teaching the child to hear pitches incorrectly. This one is perfectly in tune. Even the overtones on the octave notes (C to C) match up!The song book was easy to read and I'm thinking of getting another so that we can play the songs and duets together. I appreciate that the letters for the notes are given for those who learn best by reading and the colored blocks are given for those who learn through patterns.In addition, it arrived quickly, it is sturdy and well made, and the Xylophone has a rich, full tone. Much better than I would have expected in a smaller sized instrument. I look forward to many years of using it with both my family and students!

When I first found this, my initial instincts signaled, "Be skeptical" as most of these sorts of "instruments" are not really instruments but rather toys that actually might do more harm than good for developing a tonal ear. Accurate pitch production is, should I say, "hit and miss" on most of these toys. To my surprise and delight, not so with this Upado Unlimited xylophone. And not only was I pleased with its tonal accuracy, it's heavy, substantial construction is reminiscent of those used in elementary music classrooms of a bygone era when teaching music was as important as teaching math. Of course we now know that these two educational disciplines work hand in hand, firing back and forth while building the Corpus Callosum of the human brain. Let's just hope that finer quality beginner instruments like this will find a way into the homes of every child who desires and deserves the joy of music. Every newborn baby shower should have this xylophone setting the tone for all the other gifts. Why not leave one of these next to Santa's empty plate of cookies with the included book open to a favorite song to learn on Christmas morning? Even if music isn't your bag, this xylophone is an heirloom quality instrument that's suitable to be passed down from generation to generation. Music always finds its way into someone's heart in the family tree!

My brother is a musician and his wife has a degree in a musical field. They both seem to be happy with the quality of the instrument. My niece loves it. The only issue I have is that I'm not sure why "sharpening" the end of the mallets was necessary. They appear to be made out of standard dowels but the ends are tapered off into a blunt pointed tip. This item is probably not labeled for use with children under three (which is what we are doing) but there are children using it in the videos so I figured it would be safe for her to use with supervision (again, exactly what my brother and his wife are doing). I would suggest caution with small children due to the pointed tips on the handle. Just like they shouldn't "run with scissors", use common sense and don't let small children run around with the mallets in their hands and all will be well. The sharper tips on the mallet handles is the only negative thing my brother had to say about this. It seems to be in tune and well-made. It's a small Glockenspiel, around a foot in length. It comes with a book that has songs in it. Worth the slightly more expensive price because it's a real instrument and not a plastic toy that will be broken in a week.

This Glockenspiel,Xylophone has a musical range of C to C. Each plate/key has the tone Letter stamped on it, and, is painted a different color. The wooden frame is solid and attractively finished. Striking/tapping the plate/keys with the included mallets produces a nice bell like tone. A booklet wirh 12 tunes comes with the instrument. Songs are color coded and have the musical letter to play which matches the plate/keys. Although I lack a musical background, I was able to quickly play a few recognizable lines of Twinkle Twinkle little star. Upado publishes additional books.I ordered the christmas book.The first pages begin with a glossary of musical terms like Rhythm, tone/pitch, and the beat of music. Then 23 songs are displayed with Color and Tone letter. The lyrics are in the back of the book.This discussion of music terms was helpful to a musical novice like me. As a professional musician, I loathe to find most kids music products lacking in tone and accurate pitch. This instrument is just that. It has a solid tone, not too loud to be annoying when she plays it constantly, and perfectly tuned notes such that any combination she plays sounds beautiful! We are an A440 household, and while I haven't measured it, the pitches seem to be tuned to that. The price point can't be beat either. To get a better instrument than this, one must pay 4-10x as much and spend your money wisely.

Great toy to teach music, rythm and melody to your child. The Xylophone sounds great and the material is wood and metal, so the sound is angelic.Can highly recommend this instrument for your child's development. Just make sure, to not leave a toddler alone with it, since the sticks might be a hazard during earlier years. What a great instrument!! We are a relatively musical family and I've always been frustrated with our kids toy instruments not being in tune or not even being tuned to a chromatic or major scale. This xylophone / glock is tuned to a C major scale and is perfectly in tune. It's been an incredible tool to teach my kids some basic music. They're having a blast learning songs from the color coded charts included. I would definitely recommend this product - I will be buying more!!
