Rubies Magical Mermaid Costume Dress for Kids, Girl's Medium

Love, Love Love this costume. Super cute. Fits my daughter to a T! She is petite for her age (6y/o) the small was perfect for her. Comfortable enough to walk around for trick-or-treating. Would be difficult to play in- because of the slim fit. The first one we bought came with a tear along one side seam. We did the return and the new one came. I missed the opportunity to return the torn one because of hurricane Irma. Things were crazy for our family, so I was charged for the 2nd one. Hoping tp contact the company, now that we're pretty much back to normal and I've found the box with the torn one.

We had several Halloween events to go to, and one of them started ripping at the seams at the first one, but we were able to get through three more events without them falling apart. They're really cute they fit really well the girls love them! But as with any inexpensive costume at Halloween you get what you pay for

I chose this costume for my daughter because it was one of very few I found with a tail that actually looks like a mermaid tail. A few of the reviews I read commented on the poor quality/sizing/lastability of this item but I think it is excellent value for money at a fraction of the cost of similar items I considered. The quality of the fabric isn't so good as in more expensive fancy dress items (e.g. official disney products etc) but my daughter will only be wearing it around the house for dressing up so I'm not too worried if it needs patching over time or she can't walk around all day in it. It is worth noting that my 4 1/2 yr old daughter is very petite for her age (bottom 10% centiles on height and weight: She is 99cm/39in tall, 30lb/13.6kg) and this item (size "small") fits her well - so it may be more restrictive on a average build/larger child particularly at the older end of the age range stated. My reason for not giving 5 stars is mostly because, although she loves the details of the dress, she was disappointed not to have a "tail" at the back of the dress also, only at the front, and also because, like some other reviewers, I find the sizing in the amazon advert difficult to judge and perhaps misleading.

I bought this for my 5yr old daughter because to her it was the only one that made sense- all the other mermaid costumes were dresses and she wanted something that covered her feet, because mermaids don't have feet! :) When it arrived she loved it, but it is very, very thin material and very form fitting. She could barely fit tights and a tank top underneath. Even though she loved the design of the fins, they do get in the way when she walks and she's tripped a few times. The back has a slit to help make walking easier, but she only wore it once and it has already ripped up the seam. Overall it's very beautiful, I wish it was a little bigger and made out of stronger material.

We were very nervous it wouldn't fit, due to comments of it being a very small fit. So we went up a size, and got a small. It came intact everything beautifully folded. As I open it it says "3-4" which freaked me, because we got the "U.S. 5-6" then I notice it also says "U.S. 5-6"(confusing) as I take it out, it looks small. But thank heaven that my tot is petite for her age so it fits beautifully! The tail is long, and hard to walk in. But I taught her the good ol " kick..step...kick...step" move, it makes it a ton easier for her to get around in. She will be using it for Halloween so we are gonna put it away for now. Overall for the price we paid I am super satisfied.

My daughter is 3.5 years old and average height and very thin. 3T pants are usually good in the waist but too short and she swins in 4T pants. She wears a 4T shirt comfortably. I read the reviews before purchasing so I went up a size to the 4-6 rather than the toddler size (which I would have purchased if I had not read the reviews). Even that size is snug in the chest and abdomen, although doable. The fin is in the front of the costume and about a foot longer than the back of the costume. She cannot walk in it at all - it is SOOO not functional. So, we are out the money spent on this costume because she cannot even wear it. It is paper thin, which is not unexpected for a Halloween costume, but because it is tight, we are limited on what she could wear underneath as it is typically quite chilly on Halloween. SAVE YOUR MONEY

My daughter loves this outfit. The metallic blue is very shiny in person and makes quite an impression for a mermaid loving girl. And I know, I know, it's a mermaid tail and human children are obviously not mermaids, BUT the thing just fits weird. As amazingly attractive as it is, my bling-loving child took it off after a few minutes because it is just so strange fitting. The sleeves covered her hands completely and the tail just drags in front of her feet, impairing walking. Maybe it's too big, I thought...but no, it's not too big because my very lean child was stuffed into the body of the costume like a cute little shiny sausage, so a smaller size would have been shorter, but also too small in the body. Not sure if it's going back yet or not...I will give it another go tomorrow to see if she can wear it or even wants to, and if not, buh-bye.

Lovely costume. Got 2 for our twin girls. They loved it. Little kids need costumes to play act.
