Coleman Elite Montana Camping Tent with LED Lights, Weatherproof Family Tent with Included Carry Bag, Rainfly, Air Vent, and LED Lights with 3 Settings

We purchased this tent last week, and camped out Friday night. We set up two twin air mattresses side-by-side with our feet facing the middle of the tent (I prefer two twins to a single queen so my rolling over won't bother my wife, and vice versa). Our two boys were in the other side of the tent. The middle was left open for gear. We had TONS of room. It rained quite a bit for over an hour and we stayed completely dry. I treated the tent with waterproofing spray and sealed the seams on the rain fly ahead of time. I also spread a tarp on the ground under the tent. We knew rain was forecasted, so I prepared for it. Setup was pretty easy. I did it by myself without any real hassle. The light, which has received a lot of flack on the reviews, worked well for us. The three settings were nice. We have young boys, so the amber night-light was great when they were first going to sleep. Here's the deal on installing it safely (the instructions are not detailed enough): 1. There are three notches in the mount that the light MUST line up with. One notch is larger than the other two, which help you to line them up properly. If you force it any other way, it will break. Just watch what you are doing, and it slides right in without any force needed. 2. The contacts in the mount are spring loaded. After sliding the light into the mount properly, reach behind the mount, press the light in gently against the contact, and gently turn to the right until it stops (about a quarter turn). It works perfectly. The self-rolling windows are great. It makes it really convenient. The hinged door is easy to get in and out of. But, as others have noted, the velcro didn't line up well. I would have to manually grab the tent and door to line up the velcro. Not a big deal. It's still best to zip it up to keep critters out. It takes a lot of stakes to get it completely set up. If you know rain is coming, go ahead and stake out all the guy lines. Otherwise, it leaves areas where rain can pool on the fly. Again, we knew it would rain, so I didn't take that chance. When treating the tent ahead of time, I didn't stake it out at all and noticed this. Overall - a nice size family tent, for not a lot of money. Treat your gear well and it will return the favor!

This is definitely the best tent I have ever owned, hands down, not that I have owned very many. I have camped in it twice now, for 2 nights each time. I had a great experience each time. Rained VERY hard the first time we used it (both nights) and zero water came in. The initial setup was quick and easy, though the rain fly was quite difficult to get just right (even the 2nd time). This is a "modified dome" type tent, so it still has the 2 main poles that make an X in the middle, but it adds 1 additional pole on each side angling out from the center. This allows for additional space inside and the unique leak-proof window design that can be kept open even in the rain! I LOVE that feature. I bought this tent for the hinged-door but ended up liking that less and other features more. I also LOVE the LED light fixture with a switch right near the door. The switch even has a small LED built in that is always on so you can always locate it. This is just a very well thought out tent in the design and ask my wife I am very hard to impress in that regard. For example they ran a separate wire so the battery pack is stored in the rear of the tent instead of by the front door where it could get in the way. The "self rolling" windows are kind of a cool little gimmick. It keeps the windows neater when you roll them down so the extra fabric doesn't dangle. All they are is slap bracelets you slide into a little pocket sewn into the window. All-in-all I highly recommend this tent. For the price you simply can't beat it. Setup Tips: Don't follow the instructions. Stretch and stake out the 4 corners first. Set aside the 3 shortest poles because you won't be using them until the end. Take the 4 remaining poles and assemble them as you thread them into the color-coded sleeves. If you have a partner, have them stand on one side of the tent and hold the poles where they belong so they don't fall out while you pop the tent up. If you don't have a partner, one person can do it with practice if you keep constant pressure on the opposite side as you pop it up. As long as it's not going to rain, you can add the 2 poles to the hinged-door and you are done! Otherwise, throw the rain fly over the tent and rotate it until "vestibule" is in the front. Let the fiddling begin. If you have a partner stand on left and right sides from each other and put those 2 stakes in first for the guy wires and then work on positioning the fly correctly over the windows and velcro it in place. Lastly have your partner stake the back of the fly while you add the final pole to the vestibule and futz with the entrance. Add the welcome mat and you are 100% done (outside). Have fun!

So, at 38 years old it was going to be my first camping trip. I had been promising my daughter for the past few years and decided it was finally time to deliver on that promise. Not being very keen on the idea of the trip at all, getting the perfect tent was number one on my list!! I begin searching Amazon and after days of searching different tenants and reading countless reviews I decided on this one. I'm so glad that I did!! Although my husband set it up, he did it alone and rather easily for the size, he had it set up in about 30 mins. I was impressed at how well it was made in how roomie it was inside, it felt very open and definitely easily accommodated my 5 foot 7 height, with room to spare. I loved the door feature but it did not stay shut well with the Velcro attachment and I ended up zipping it when I went in and out. I also loved the built in light feature, it's not actually built in, it goes in a pocket to hold it and there you can turn it on and off, and it has different settings. The tent easily fit a queen air mattress and we had to tons of room left for bags and all the various items we had brought. Although it did not rain we had no issues with dew or anything in the morning. The breaking down of the tent was easy enough and it fit back nicely into the bag it came in. I really liked this tent and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice reliable tent with newer features!!

This tent is a very nice tent. There is a lot of space and it's pretty easy to put up. The rigid door is fantastic as I have young children who have a habit of snagging fabric when they zip the tent. While it's possible it is a lot easier for them. We fit a queen mattress and 2 twin mattresses inside with the middle section open for our other gear. I wish they had 4 stuff pocket but there are only 2, one on each side section. I also LOVE the LED light inside the tent. It has a nightlight setting which we use so the kids don't freak out in the dark. It also has a high and low bright light setting. We had a child vomit this last trip in the tent and it was fantastic to be able to push the lighted switch instead of digging for a flashlight and then having limited light when we had to clean that up at midnight. I also whish there were a few more windows. You have half moons at each end of the tent then a window on the top half of the door. And finally a vent at the lower middle back of the tent. The circulation could be better but it isn't terrible. My other criticism is the set up. I have camped for years and set up many many types of tents and I am particularly familiar with dome tents. This tent isn't the most difficult tent I have ever set up by any means but the directions are awful. They are vague and unclear. The poles for the rigid door are denoted by plastic caps which is great. Then there are 2 grey poles which go into the grey trimmed sleeves. There are also 2 black poles which go into the black trimmed sleeves. This is where the problem is. They fly pole is also black. There is no way to delineate it from the rest without straitened them all and figuring out which is shorter. And it's only slightly shorter. So to look at it unfolded you wouldn't know. If you don't know this you will set it up with a pole too short and wonder why it isn't working. This is not written in the directions. When we read the reviews we saw people recommend that you do a practice run of setting it up before you go camping. We both scoffed and said we got this. People are idiots. We were wrong. It took us about an hour to set it up the first time. This last trip was faster and I'm sure we'll be even faster next time. This really is a great tent for families and I do highly recommend it. We have been caught in the rain twice and stayed dry both times. Again, high recommendations. The 4 stars is only because of the ventilation and the set up and directions.

After reading dozens of reviews on different sites I decided to try the Montana Elite 8. Setup was pretty easy but the rain fly was a bit difficult to get on because it was a little breezy. The led light and auto rolling windows are a nice touch as well as the hinged door. The door makes it easy to enter and exit the tent. I set up a Coleman Queen Airbed cot in one end and had plenty of room for other gear. There's no shortage of stakes to tie it down and it was very stable when properly staked. I can't say anything about the ability to repel rain because it didn't rain while I was using it. I did spray all of the seams with sealer for extra protection. I would give it 5 stars if I knew for sure it would stay dry during a storm but when properly set up it appears that the rain fly would work well. I look forward to using it again.

I have used this tent on two occasions so far and have found it to be very spacious and seemingly sturdy. The LED light and switch is also very nice and a convenience I would choose the elite over the regular to have, as are the quick roll windows. So far we have camped in good weather so I can't attest to the tents handling of wind or rain. I have only a few very minor complaints or observations about the tent. First, setting up the tent itself is fairly simple and quick; both times I even managed to do it myself with no assistance though a second person would be helpful. The rainfly however is a tad tedious; it is hard to get on the tent as it is so tall, I'd almost recommend putting it over the tent before raising it. The fly also has about a thousand Velcro straps to tie it down with. Once I located them all the second time I put it up I was much faster but it's still a chore. I would skip the fly if you know the weather will be good. As others have noted the Velcro holding the door shut doesn't always fit well; we mostly use the zipper unless coming back through the door almost immediately. Our other tents all had zippered doors so this isn't a huge deal. It would also be nice if the door had a catch so it would stay open if you wanted to. I also found it inconvenient that there isn't any sort of hook at the top of the tent to hold a fan; my other Coleman tent has a clip to hang a tent fan and the Montana elite just had the light there. Again, a very minor thing but if you camp in hot weather a lot it might be an issue. Over all we are very happy with the Montana elite 8. It has more than enough room without being too bulky or unmanageable. It's straightforward to assemble and seems built to last. I would recommend it to anyone looking to move to a bigger tent that could easily sleep 6 with everyone on there own air mattress with room to spare for gear.

It was easier than I expected to set up, didn't take too long at all, and next time it will be that much easier and faster. PLENTY of room!! I'm 6'2" and could stand up. Probably could fit 3 queen air mattresses in it, but will definitely sleep 4-6 adults and a couple of kids with no problem, and have room for diaper bags, snacks, etc that go along with having kids. The windows in the pic were kind of misleading but I guess its my own fault for not looking close enough? The pic shows a girl rolling down a big square window, but all there is are the 2 tiny windows on either end, and the one on the door. The roll down feature is pretty cool. The mesh top was awesome because it gave more "window space" and could lay down and look at the stars. The light is a new must have for a tent!! It was amazing putting the little one to bed with the "moon light" and having bright and dim for situations earlier in the evening. The hinged door was pretty cool not having to zip it up every time, but I ended up doing it anyway so the bugs didn't get in. No need to buy a tarp to set it on, since the foot print is all plastic tarp like material about 2 inches up. The one thing i didn't like was the stakes that came with it. those tiny stakes. I will definitely buy a 10 pack of the good ones. Overall, I have to give it 5 stars as this tent was everything I hoped for and will get many uses for a long, long, time.

We had an upcoming week long vacation in the Seqouia's. We had a tent that is for 2-3 people but we now have a little girl and had to upgrade. There are tons of tents at various local places and online. Locally, I knew you would pay higher at Dick's Sporting Goods for the same item and you get what you pay for. I found this tent with excellent reviews and cheaper through Amazon, plus the Amazon Prime shipping made it a nice deal. We were presently surprised at the space and features. It does take up a good amount of space, and we were able to fit two queen sized air mattresses on opposite ends, plus luggage. Inside, there are several holders for light objects, like flash lights, books and some toys. The coolest part is the light. We kept our light on dim, and it was dark enough to sleep but enough light to see around comfortably. This feature made my wife feel safer with all the bears in the neighborhood. I feel that it got really hot inside, but we didn't have any vents open, per wife. It got in the low 40's and myself and 1 year old slept outside of the blankets. With this, we were still comfortable and enjoyed the tent. It seems built well and nothing less expected from a Coleman. I would definitely recommend this for a camping family trip, with 4 adults and maybe 2 children included max. You do need two people to help set this up, and I recommend setting this up prior to vacation because it can be confusing your first few times. I would not recommend this, as it is not intended for, windy and extreme weather conditions. It is somewhat heavy to carry, also.

Fácil armado para dos personas. Una sola es posible pero si es cansado. Buen tamaño, sumamente amplia, aunque me hubiese gustado que fuese un poco más grande de fondo. Caben sin problema dos colchones inflables Queen y aun queda espacio de entrada. Buen add el de enrollar las ventanas al abrir y super bien la luz. Recomendable.

Lo acabo de usar, muy buen producto, agusto con el mismo y por la conexion de luz que tiene, aun no lo pruebo en lluvia pero por el momento toso bien
