... in which I am it can not get any better. The LRB is one of the best bands ...
"At a musicians point of view in which I am it can not get any better. The LRB is one of the best bands to walk the planet with rich harmonies and smooth crisp instrumentals that touch your heart and soul. They are under rated and can stand up to any group. They cover everything from rock and roll to a classical type of music, including love ballads. It does not matter which album you listen to from them they are all a 12 on a scale from one to ten"

Great CD
If you like the band, you will like this CD full of great songs that never made it to anyone's radio playlist.. The only reason that I didn't rate it as a 5 is that there are a couple of Liberal Viewpoint songs and a couple that are just to Teen Pop sounding which drive me nuts. But the good thing is that I can load the songs I like on my Player (Which is most of the CD) and I don't have to listen to the stuff I don't want.

My favourite LRB album - Monsoon
I have been trying for a number of years to secure this album on CD. Record shops in NZ never seemed to carry copies. In the end I decided to try Amazon via Google and hey presto I had the source and then the purchase. My order initially was not able to be met as the nominated supplier no longer had the CD in stock. Once that hurdle was overcome and my order through the 2nd supplier was confirmed the purchase went ahead without a hitch. The CD arrived within 2 weeks of confirming my order. An all round excellent transaction and Amazon kept me up to date at all times and I might add very promptly in providing me with information firstly in letting me know about the initial unavailability of the CD and then once the 2nd order was confirmed advising the mailing/postage details and expected delivery period.

LRB JUST FINE 2ME
Though my favorite LRB line-up is the John Farnham years, LRB in any form is one of my favorite groups. Not a bad album in their discography. LRB has always delivered impeccable harmonies, flawless musicianship and memorable compositions.MONSOON surfaced in 1988 and marked the return of original members Glenn Sherrock and Graham Goble, re-inventing but retaining their identifiable sound. It's also great having mainstays Wayne Nelson and Stevie Housden around. Housden is an amazing, underrated guitarist, and Nelson's bass and distinctive vocals have highlighted many LRB's songs. My favorite track is Nelson's INSIDE STORY, sort of a companion piece to Don Henley's DIRTY LAUNDRY, both exposing the hypocrisy of the media. I also love THE RHYTHM KING, a euphoric celebration of dance performed superbly. A CRUEL MADNESS and GREAT UNKNOWN are touching social commentaries. FACE IN THE CROWD and SON OF A FAMOUS MAN address the price of fame. SHADOW IN THE RAIN starts out like a 50s-60s rocker then morphs into an almost ethereal 80s technopop and returns to its straight rocker. PARALLEL LINES and IT'S COLD OUT TONIGHT finish out this marvelous LRB offering.

Monsoon : Essential LRB
Australia's own Little River Band. I simply love everything the band ever did from their first self titled release in 1975 through to "Get Lucky" in 1990. This album is a personal favourite marking Glenn Shorrock's much welcomed return to the band after the wonderful John Farnham years. This line up was tight ... really tight. They performed a full concert at World Expo 1988 in Brisbane at the time "Monsoon" was released and it was a truly sensational event. I recorded the simulcast on cassette and still treasure it. Glenn Frey of The Eagles joined them on stage that night for a few Eagles songs and just jammed on ... what a night ! Lyin Eyes/Take It Easy from that concert is on the "Reminiscing" compilation of LRB's but nothing else from the concert has ever seen the light of day unfortunately. It would be great if it could be sourced, digitally remastered and released but lets not hold our breath. If you love LRB and haven't heard this album yet, please do yourself a huge favour. MONSOON truly is Essential LRB.

For all LRB fans
Not only was this a reunion of the originals (Birtles, Shorrock, Goble) but it also put them back with producer John Boylan, one of the keys to producing the LRB "sound".Everyone I know who enjoyed LRB didn't even know this existed. When I lent or played it for them, they went out and bought immediately. Unfortunately, none of these songs are included on any of the "Greatest Hits" releases because the prior work was on Capital/EMI. "Monsoon" was the beginning of their move over to MCA thanks to Irving Azoff. Because by this time, LRB was not getting the airplay the Capital releases got, this got relegated to the release discount bin.Completely unfortunate as this has some quality songwriting and the production work was top shelf. If anything, all LRB fans should consider "Monsoon" an extension of your LRB Greatest Hits collection as most if not all of the songs are that good.

Catch this sleeper from LRB
Probably the most underrated album in the Little River Band catalog, Monsoon marked the return of vocalist Glenn Shorrock after he temporarily handed the role of "lead mouth" to John Farnham. Shorrock reclaims the role with enthusiasm and delivers that famous "LRB sound".Principal songwriters Graeham Goble and Shorrock provide a wealth of new material that ranges from the rocking opener It's Cold Out Tonight to the luscious harmonies of Soul Searching and Love is a Bridge. My personal favourites include Goble's contemplative A Cruel Madness and Son of a Famous Man, dedicated to Julian Lennon. Others like Parallel Lines and Face in the Crowd are guaranteed to get your body moving.Goble and Shorrock have recently regrouped with Beeb Birtles and are recording and touring as Birtles Shorrock Goble, the original voices and songwriters of The Little River Band. The fact that they have included four tracks from Monsoon in their live set speaks volumes for the quality of the work therein. If your enjoyment of LRB is limited to the likes of Reminiscing, Lady and Cool Change then I urge you to seek out a copy of Monsoon. Your ears are in for a treat!

Go the aussies
I think it is around the time of this album that lrb were at their best, classic tunes to sit and dream too, I saw them with John Farnham in the 80s and they were phenomenal, I have been a fan from their first album. This to me is driving music to take you on a mystery tour of harmonies and great riffs.

Australian Rock- Erste Sahne
