How far out of the water does the steamer basket sit?

Hi Thanks for your question,the steamer leg length is 1", so we suggest you put water below 1" is fine. Thank you.

How do you lift it out of the water?

The basket has a two inch rod with a ring attached mounted in the middle of the basket to provide a lift point when done steaming. This takes a bit of getting used to and can be a bit awkward. I always use a hot pad and pinch the ring/rod end with thumb and forefinger to lift out basket full of steamed veggies. Have a bowl ready to dump into. Also, most of these baskets are built this way.

Is this safe in the oven?

Yes it should be safe in the oven. It is all metal

I use the steamer about three times a week, it’s holding up pretty well
