Excellent moderate support and all-day comfort
The McDavid 432 ankle brace with strap offers excellent moderate support for moderate ankle sprains. It is a little more difficult to get on and off than other braces that only have straps; however, the additional support of a sleeve + straps is well worth it. When I saw my physiatrist (rehab doctor), he was quite pleased with this brace for my ankle sprain. This is also quite comfortable, so that I could wear it all day, and sleep in it, too, when my ankle sprain was at its worst. However, I had to loosen the laces on my tennis shoes, and would not have been able to wear dress shoes with this brace on.I am a woman of medium build, shoe size 7, and I ordered a small, which worked well for me. This brace has been durable, although after months of use, the material is looking worn because of the Velcro. However, the Velcro still works quite well.Over 7 months, I have tried 6 different ankle braces. For comparison, the Neo-G brace offers moderate support and is otherwise my go-to brace because of comfort, support and ease-of-use (no tight sleeve to pull up). The ASO stabilizing orthosis and Swede-O easy lok adjustable ankle brace were also uncomfortable, rubbing in the wrong places, although the most supportive. The OTC ankle support brace with wraparound strap was a disappointment; it was too large to offer an support, although I ordered a small. The Bracoo ankle brace was lightweight and comfortable, but offered minimal support, so that it did not work well enough for my moderate ankle sprain.

Bought a second one!
Great and comfortable. Good support without being too tight or restrictive. I have a stronger one for indoor volleyball, but needed one that had a little more flexibility for soccer. I started using this one for beach volleyball as well, so got a second one (so my soccer stuff doesn't get all sandy).I can definitely feel the difference when I don't wear the brace after playing.

Great for everyday wear!
I tore 2 ligaments in my left ankle and had surgery to repair them in 2010. The ankle never healed and I must wear a brace everyday of my life. This brace makes it possible to wear many shoe types, is lightweight and helps keep the ankle compressed without lots of bulk. I like the new more breathable fabric. I just wish they could make a strap that helps me pull the brace off. Its very tight and compressed so pulling it off is difficult but Im glad its strong to hold my ankle in place without the bulk.

This is nicely made with better than average support
This is nicely made with better than average support. But it runs tight / small and I had to return it. Size chart suggests a small would fit up to an 11 woman's size shoe. I wear a 5, but am recovering from a broken foot & ankle and the small was way too tight around the foot and ankle. I believe a small would be too short to fit a women's 11 shoe size.

sizing
The sizing of this product is misleading as it runs very small and there is no way to distinguish whether this would fit a mans foot or a womens.

Best ones I’ve tried
I’ve tried many and this one was the best. I don’t have large feet and I got the size up which I recommend doing. The wraps will tighten them more to your desired amount.

Support, but no more.
First, I wear a size 13 shoe, and the Large Strap fits good. I'd rather have it snug, than loose, especially in a shoe.I'm 30 now and play basketball on the weekends. I grew up playing a soccer, basketball, and a lot of other sports and my ankles are definitely the weak points on my body. I started wearing these because my ankles were a little sore from playing ball and figured the support would help without hindering movement. It took one week and I came down wrong and suffered a pretty good inversion sprain, while wearing the brace. The kind where you hear the ligaments popping.Moral of the story is, these are great for casual use: walking, day-to-day stuff, maybe even light jogging where there is minimal risk of rolling, but these ARE NOT FOR HIGH SPEED, COMPETITIVE SPORTS. I've since went with the ASO Speed Lace Evo's and they are awesome. I still keep these on days where I'm sore but just going to be around the office, but have retired them from my gym bag. So I gave them a 3, but perhaps I was using them incorrectly to begin with...

Confidence exercising returned!
I've broken my ankle twice now, rehabbed it twice, and while that was 15+ years ago, I tend to sprain my ankle a good 3-4 times a year. Needless to say, I'm always hesitant with a lot of activities that I'll hurt my ankle again, but this gives me the real support and confidence I needed! I like that you can adjust the tension, and while bulkier than other supports I've tried in the past, still fits comfortably in any of my sneakers.I'd recommend it to anyone who wants strong support.I should also add that I saw this at a local Sports Authority which didn't have my size and didn't offer to order it for me for TWICE the price.
