Cygolite Hypershot 350 Lumen Bike Tail Light– 7 Night & Daytime Modes–User Adjustable Flash Speeds- Compact & Durable–IP64 Water Resistant–Saddle Rail Mount Version–USB Rechargeable

I don't bike much but realize it's important to be seen both day and night. I have witnessed people on bikes without lights or lights that were so dim during the day that i thought why bother; one I believe was even a "brake light" type of rear light that barely got brighter when stopping - this is not dim. I haven't used it on the bike yet but indoors this light is bright; it projected light at least 25 feet with a large spot of red light on the wall. It can change speed of the flashes in flash modes and the light brightness for the steady on & buzz mode; I'm thinking that even at the lowest light brightness if another biker is behind you it'll be too bright because of the way it projects the light.. I bought it for the daytime flash mode, the ability to change the brightness and flash speeds. It has a clip to put it on a bike bag that's mounted behind or under the seat (have to hold keys somewhere! :-) ). It came almost fully charged but I did have to top it off but it was a quick top off. It seems to be a well built product and hopefully it'll last a while. I know there are higher lumen taillights than this one but if this projects as well outside in day light as it did in the house it''ll be a great taillight.

This is one of the brightest rear tail lights out there. Expertly designed, too/ May take a minute to familiarize yourself with the various settings. It is extremely bright at night. On a recent group ride, i had several people tell me it was blinding them. Then they asked who makes it? I had to study the settings to find out how to make it dimmer. You can only do this in two modes: Steady and Buzz Flash. The L button controls on/off and switching between modes. The right button will dim or brighten the light in those two modes. It comes with two mounts, for seatpost and seatstay. You can also clip it to a bag. If you want to mount it to a rack, you need to buy the rack mount, which needs extra hardware to fit on a Blackburn MTB rack. There is also a saddle rail mount available. I usually clip it to my under-seat bag, but I could also clip it to my rack bag or a messenger bag or backpack. AFAIK, there's no real way to clip it to the back of a helmet, except for maybe an aftermarket strap. It has some proprietary tech that adjusts brightness to meet different lighting conditions, which gives it a variable run time in every mode. I have no idea how this actually works, but Cygolite mention it in their marketing materials. It will also remember the last setting when turned on, which is a nice feature. If and when sheer britness matters, this may be the king of shine. It certain;y gives confidence in night riding that you will be visible in traffic. Just remember to dial it down if going on a group ride.

It is nice and bright with several different patterns. I am sure it has saved my ass more than once... so to speak.

The Hypershot 350 is one of the best flashers made for use during daylight hours. The worst case scenario for injury is when you are riding into a sun that's low to the horizon. The driver coming up on you is blinded by the sun. I've tested my Hypershot 350 by parking the bike on an east-west road near sunset and walking 250 feet behind it. The flasher was bright enough to be unmistakable in this situation but not by a wide margin. Less powerful flashers will be missed. So, this flasher with maximum available brightness is really the minimum requirement for safe daylight riding. The problem is that this flasher is much too powerful for use at night. Try the same test as above but at night. Looking directly at the flasher from 250 feet causes pain. Oncoming drivers will be blinded and provoked to road rage. Unfortunately, you can only adjust blink speed on the Hotshot, not brightness. I have a second and much less expensive flasher for use at night. It's the Blitzu [Amazon ASIN B00W7Y27CQ]. The Blitzu is amazingly competent relative to its cost. It's sold as a two-pack for around 15 USD. I didn't really want two of them, but I use both of them since they were received that way. In pulsing modes, there is a strobing effect between the two flashers that's gets attention. However, I can't recommend the Blitzu for use during the day. The Cygolite and the Blitzu are opposites in that the Hotshot is too bright for night and the Blitzu is not bright enough for day. It's ridiculous to need two flashers to cover the full 24 hours but there you are. The pricing on Cygolite products is very volatile. The Hotshot 350 is currently only 36 USD, which is less than the lower model Hotshot 250. It was 54 USD when I bought mine during April 2024.

I purchased this as a replacement for the same light which I have had for roughly 10 years with absolutely no issues. Unfortunately I broke the mounting component recently which necessitated a replacement. The listing for the product states in one of the product images that it uses USB-C charging, the device I received charges via micro-usb. This is just a minor inconvenience as it does ship with a charging cable which can be used with any standard USB-A compatible charger.

This thing could be mistaken for a police light it is so bright, I love it! I use it when road biking congested areas in the street during the day. It has multiple patterns and can be adjusted for speed and brightness. It recharges within 2 hours and lasts all day.

This light is amazing and I felt seen. When I'm riding solo, cars rarely ever get up on my rear wheel anymore. I think this light is so bright that they just dont want to be right behind me. I felt seen I the daylight and I felt seen from half a mile away when it's pitch black out. I love the various mixes - important to me as I turn it solid during group rides so not to blind the other riders. And then the various blinking modes for when I'm riding solo. My only gripe about this - and I didn't deduct a star because the light is that good - is the mounting hardware. You have to purchase an external piece of hardware I'd you want to mount it to an aero seatpost. I feel this should come with this light to match current bike trends. I was able to rig something up on my own and it works, bit that was a minor annoyance. Get this light though, it rocks!

2 reasons why this is extremely bright. A is that it has a concentrated hotspot, ie very high lux (not talking about lumens). This is the value that you get on lux meters, the amount of light that you get at a certain spot some distance away. B is that it uses an orangey red emitter, easily 5-10 nm wavelength lower than other red LEDs. So your eye perceives it as brighter (brightest is at 555nm / green colour), more efficient use of power etc. I use 2 of these 350s as the hotspot is elliptical in shape and horizontally is 10 deg spread and vertically is 5 deg spread. So 2 of these gives me a 20 degrees horizontal coverage. I also use 2pcs of Magicshine Seemee 300 for even wider coverage esp with its additional Optic-trace LED firing sideways as i mount those horizontally on the back of my saddle (on a horizontal bar facing the rear). Need to fine tune a bit the vertical angle, the jagged teeth of the vertical angle adjustment is pretty "rough" and ends up either aiming the light too upwards or too downwards, esp for 1 of my light. I end up sticking some pcs of foam tape in between the clip on the light to serve as spacers so that the angle can be further fine tune. Very good light, you will be seen during day time. Use the STEADY mode for night time use, the intensity can be fine-tuned to a pretty low level. I think the run time for STEADY mode @ 350 lumens thereabouts (yes, full intensity) is 2hrs. This is one of the rare lights that you can run at max power in steady mode and still not overheat. AND also it can accept being plugged to a power bank and the light still stays lit, thereby prolonging the runtime a lot and limited by your powerbank only.

This is a great light, I've bought 2 of them (one for my wife and one for myself). They are incredibly bright and can be easily be seen on a bright sunny day. Also, I've found the battery life is great. The only downside is that if you are riding in a group you may annoy anyone behind you .... stopping the blinking and leaving it on "solid" may help. I do wish they offered more mounting options though. Our seat posts are obscured by a "trunk" so I fitted them to the bike rack over the back wheel, however the stays are too small for the supplied clips. I had to make the stays fatter by wrapping bits of an old inner tube round them.
