July 2022 -- Updating Review after using for 1 year. Absolutely good. Using regularly for making Dosa. Just ensure it to keep it clean, wipe off all the water and just apply cooking oil all over it when you keep it aside. This is to avoid rust. While making dosa, just ensure it heats up well. Now lower the heat, use a sliced onion and spread the cooking oil over it. Now pour the batter on the tawa, spread it and then increase the heat. Try to cook the dosa with more heat so that the dosa gets cooked at the borders too. Cooking dosa with lesser heat may over cook the middle portion and the outer portion would take longer to get cooked. Aug 2021 -- Thanks for delivering this product really quick. Was looking to replace non-stick pan with healthier alternatives and this one was perfect. Able to make Dosa, Chappati and Roti with no problem at all. Follow the instructions exactly as given with the Product. While trying to make dosa, try to spread the cooking oil evenly across the surface using a sliced onion. It really helps.

I saw so many reviews about it. The product is not bad. Many people want it to be maintenance free like the aluminium or non-stick cookwares. Maintenance is also not so cumbersome. Season it properly then you can use it for lifetime. Once you get it clean it thoroughly with soap water and a scrubber. Wipe it off and apply oil on the whole surface. Heat it in low flames till you get fumes. For the first use fry some onions till they become golden brown. Discard the onion and the tawa is ready for use. 12 inch is really big. For our normal homes the gas stove cannot heat up all the edges of the tawa. So go for 12 inc only when you have a big stove otherwise 10 inch is good enough for small families.

Got this tawa in Nov 2021. Recently, while heating it up for making dosas, it suddenly developed a long crack in the otherwise sturdy iron behemoth !! Right from the center of the tawa till the rim !! Obviously the oil leaks thru the crack, and it is no longer usable. I tried contacting the Urbanhouse folks but have NOT got a response to my email at all and the phone no. given for customer care is BOGUS !! For this reason itself, I would give it a 1 star rating !!

I followed the instructions with the tawa twice before I put the tawa to use. The first step was to heat the tawa.. It takes appox 7 minutes for the tawa to heat up well on a gas stove. Then after oil and onion fry to ashes is a real smoky process. Tawa was sticky after this. I did not wash with soap. When I tried... even the first dosa did not stick. Trouble is to get a uniform golden crisp dosa. This is because the central portion is receiving the maximum heat. Slow heating leads to better heating but you can't match the restaurants. As for the tawa thickness... the vivible edge is appox 5-6 mm, but the tawa itself is appox 3-4 mm thick.. the edge includes the curb to retain the batter on it.

When I opened the pan it was very rough, Dosa is sticking and not cooked properly at the edges, we need to season it several times for non sticking, rub onion on hot pan with oil and after. Heat distribution is very bad and it burns in the middle and not cooked properly at the edge. And you need cook the dosa at very low flame Otherwise it will burn in the middle. I think it is best for chapathi not Dosa.But good for health, long lasting if oiled properly.

It's really good.. Been using for about 3 months.. Being a beginner it was good product. N with lil practice u learn d tips n tricks in tym. Coz everyone technique is different. Burner flame is high in middle so I just adjust it while cooking... Rest is all fine... Really non stick n easy to use

Writing this review after 7 to 8 uses. Dosa tawa is very sturdy and has good heat distribution and dosas are coming out neatly although it took around 3 rounds of seasoning and 5 to 6 trials of sticky dosa mess. I think this was expected based on the past reviews of most of the dosa tawa brands available in amazon.

Very good product, easy to use and clean, preseasoning helped us cook as soon as we received it with not much effort. Though when used on gas stove it get heated fast in centre and edges are little less hot but you can always manage it intelligently. Thickness is v good to hold heat. Overall great Indian product.

Follow the process of seasoning properly and all your dosas will be perfectly non-sticky...
