โLike the druidic life force Jack taps, this hearty adventure, as personal as it is epic, will cradle readers in the โhollow of its handโ ( Booklist , starred review). Jack has caused an earthquake. He was trying to save his sister Lucy from being thrown down a well, but sometimes the magic doesnโt quite work out. Not only does Jack demolish a monastery, but Lucy is carried off by the Lady of the Lake, and Jack has to follow her through the Hollow Road, which lies underground. Aided by Pega, a slave, and the berserker Thorgil, Jack encounters hobgoblins, kelpies, yarthkins, and elvesโnot the enchanted sprites one would expect, but fallen angels who steal human children for pets. In the eighth century, the world is caught between belief in the Old Gods and Christianity, and what Jack and his companions do will decide the fate of both religions. From National Book Award winner Nancy Farmer, this second book in the Sea of Trolls trilogy brilliantly enlarges the world of the first story. Look for the conclusion in The Islands of the Blessed . Review: Superb narration! - Not only is the story itself engaging and artfully crafted, but Gerard Doyle's voice is perfection! I have actually searched for books to listen to that he has narrated. The first and second books in this trilogy are incredible, enchanting, even. The third, for me, was a little bit of a letdown. It was equally thrilling right up to the last chapter, but the ending was disappointing. My sister listened to the series as well and she felt the same way, but don't let that deter you from listening to them anyway. Even with the unsatisfying ending it remains one of the best series that I have read. Review: A Rarity These Days: A Truly Well-written "young adult" fantasy - A beautiful tale, written in evocative prose that is so rare to find these days. I bought several other novels by Nancy Farmer because I enjoyed this trilogy so much. Well developed characters embedded in a world that truly comes alive with Ms. Farmer's excellent writing. Very high quality, and hope to see more from her in the future!

Very Good Book
Nancy Farmer does her research. I love the amount of references the author makes to real-world history, documents, mythology, etc. Absolutely loved the book.

One of my all time favorites! A must read
This book is a must read after reading, "The Sea of Trolls" is is the part two story of the Saga. It arrived the next day after ordering. The first books focuses of trolls and dragons, which are well known mystical creatures. This book brings other creatures into light such as Elf's, focusing on majic as well as religion, I do not want to give important information away but i hope that you enjoy, and make sure to cheek out the next book after this one, enjoy!

Lovely series
This is a wonderful follow up to the previous book. I got this for my 15 year old son to read, but found myself quickly drawn into it, as well. The characters have depth and the adventurous plot makes the book hard to put down. Highly recommend this author and series.

Overall enjoyement
Really enjoyed the beginning but felt like i had to trudge through the chapters covering the Land Silver Apples (Elfheim). Otherwise i enjoyed it, and am looking forward to the next book. Nancy Farmer is my favorite author from my teens so catching up again on her stories after over a decade of not reading any is quite the pleasure.

superb reading
This book was a superb read. I was hooked from the first page until the last and was left wanting more. The story is amazingly well written and taks you into another world with such finess that you don't even realise the time passing. I carried straight onto the next in the series without so much as a pause and now hope for another to be written to follow on as soon as the author can get it into print.

nicely written series
We live in a era of excess fantasy novels for teens. I liked these ones, as they are based on human mythology and history. The writing is good, and the stories are interesting and entertaining. Definitely on e of the better series out there

Great, very underrated book
Worth a read. If you love fantasy and you don't want it to be half romance, half fantasy, this is your book. A great sequel to the sea of trolls.
