You might prefer the Masterpiece Mp01 or Mp04 but it is still a very nice version of Optimus Prime
Ok. The more I look at it the more I love all of the small details in this figure...This is a nice, high quality, non-transforming release of the ever-popular G1 Optimus Prime. I still prefer the comparably-sized Masterpiece MP-01 or Mp-04 over this Hot Toys release but I think it is worth it overall if you are a huge OP fan. I also personally do not care for the Starscream parts so I have him displayed as G1 Optimus without the wings.Pros: Highly detailed! Excellent coloring and paint application... the battle and weathered look was done extremely well. Articulated hands plus the extra set of closed/fixed hands to hold his included gun are a plus. Light up eyes and removable light up matrix are done very well. It has a nice rocky base with plastic support arm to hold OP securely in place. He is extremely poseable allowing numerous display options. Excellent packaging.Cons: It feels slightly fragile compared to my MP01. He does not transform into truck mode. No trailer. Limited OP accessories, not including the Starscream parts (extra pair of hands and his primary gun only). Head rotation is good except he can't look up very far due to the light pipe for the eyes.Overall: I would rate it a 8 out of 10. It is not necessarily my favorite OP figure but it does have an important place in my collection. My recommendation would be to pose him in your favorite position and leave him safely displayed vs. playing around with this adult collectible.Thank you for reading my review. Enjoy your collections.
