This is my favorite shampoo by far
I've been using this shampoo for over a year and it's now the only one I'll use. My hair has looked fairly thin and flat for many years, which I now realize is because of using commercial hair care products, hair dryer, etc. I used organic products, but still, any shampoo and any chemicals are destroying the natural environment of the scalp. Last year I started learning online about natural hair care, also called historical hair care, and now my hair is wavy and beautiful and looks much thicker and is growing long! I use only real herbs, oils, essential oils, etc. - all natural foods to feed my scalp. Follow the directions of the first reviewer here for best success. Oiling your scalp before shampooing, ideally for several hours, is key for better hair growth. I've tried a number of different natural haircare products for cleansing in place of this one, but for my hair it's outstanding and I keep coming back to it. After using this product, I follow with a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse that I leave on for 3-4 minutes and then rinse out. I gently wrap it in a Turkish towel for a bit to absorb the wetness and then I take it off and let it air dry. Do NOT comb or brush wet hair, because hair is much weaker when it's wet and more strands will break off. Once it's completely dry, finger comb first to detangle and then you can use a wide tooth comb. Another wonderful herb to use for conditioning is cassia, AKA clear henna, for fantastic shine and body. If you let it steep longer and sit in your hair longer, it will also deposit blonde tones. (But do NOT use the brand Zenia! So far Henna Sooq has had a quality cassia.)

Love the product. Trick is to know how to use it.
I wanted to try a few months before writing a review. I have bought this for the second time. This is not a traditional shampoo where you get lather, soap like. I would recommend not to use this directly without oiling the hair else it will become extremely dry. Just apply any good oil(olive/coconut/argan/jojoba/seasame/castor etc) and leave for 20-30 mins and then use this. After a lot of trial and error, I followed this process. DO NOT RUB LIKE SOAP OR SHAMPOO OR BUNDLE YOUR HAIR UP TO SCRUB. Mix with warm water and apply generously and gently scrub with very little pressure and add a handful of water each time you want to scrub. It takes at least 15-20 mins just to scrub around my head. Wash with luke warm water and not hot water. It took me 2-3 washes to get adjusted to the scrubbing way and timing that suits me. Also, oil application before washing helps in knowing if the hair is clean or not, you can feel the oily feel in the hair if it has not been scrubbed properly. But trust me, not only did the oil wash away, it didn't get dry because a slight part of the oil gave the shine to my hair. I like the herbal smell in my hair . Hair was squeaky clean with a shine. Only thing I added additionally was more Shikakai powder when I used more oil. I did have hair fall for the first 2 times but after that the hair fall also reduced. I have not used any regular shampoo for the past 3 months. I am very happy with the natural chemical free way to maintain hair.

Scent is not my fav. But overall result is good and chemical free!
I bet you can find this for about $5 in India. But considering the import, its worth the money. I was using baking soda and ACV but my hair wasnt at its best. Still conditioner was needed. This product worked really well, I used as instructed. I combed my hair after it was dry. Result: Soft and shinny hair. The smell/scent? Not the best, kinda like curry and spices. But hey, its a natural product so this was to be expected and it fades away quickly. So no complaints! At the end of my wash I just applied (when wet) 4 drops of coconut oil and perfect. ALL NATURAL! For the person that said the product was expired, "MFG" means manifacturing.... so its when the product was produced. For the person that said that it made tear the eyes - duhh yes, of course. Do not let it come into your eyes, its clearly said in the packging.

Amazing!
I used the powder as a hair pack and had it on for around ~40 minutes, then rinsed and followed with my conditioner on my ends. Let me just say, when I blow dried my hair, I have not felt it be this silky in forever!! My hair has been pretty damaged for the past few years because I have dyed and bleached it so many times. I have straight hair and due to the damage and different shampoos it has had this awkward wavy texture, but after using this my hair feels virgin again. My hair is so soft, shiny, and voluminous! I would definitely recommend 100%!! Some people are complaining about the smell but it doesn’t bother me, it smells a bit like smoked spices.

Cleans hair, but can be harsh
So, excellent on clarifying scalp and treating high porosity hair, however it was too harsh. I had scalp itch due to the intensity of the clarifying, and it was too much on my curls. I switched to the straight alma powder and it's been much gentler, and has done a miracle on my curls.

I saw improvements and happy with the results.
I definitely have seen improvement in hair loss, dandruff, and softness of my hair. As other reviews have stated, be careful not to get it in your eyes as it does sting. I don't really think it smells that strong, and I don't really notice it once I have put my styling products in my hair. I add some rosemary oil to mine right before I wash my hair. I have noticed I have the best results when I make it fresh on the same day vs making up a batch to use for several hair washes. I am happy with the results.
