Lily's Sweets, Dark Chocolate Baking Chips, 9 Ounce

Once again, the challenge of being diabetic limits the dessert area in life...but not with these! Oh my goodness so good!

I was skeptical about these as I don’t like the flavor of any sweeteners outside of cane sugar. But Lily’s did a great job with these keeping them on the dark chocolate side so there isn’t a heavy sweetener taste. The erythritol and stevia don’t have much of an impact at all on the flavor of these. I’ve baked with them and eaten them straight from the bag for a little after dinner sweet and they’re great!

I love chocolate, and especially dark chocolate. I don't like all the sugar that is present in the mainstream brands of baking chips, so for a long time, I had to bid a sad farewell to chocolate chips. And then......I found Lily's brand! It's sweetened with Stevia instead of table sugar or any kind of corn syrup. While I am not a huge fan of stevia as a stand-alone sweetener (like for coffee or tea), it works very well in the Lily's dark chocolate baking chips. My husband, who doesn't like the taste of stevia at all, and who is not a fan of alternative sweeteners in general, gives a two-thumbs up for these baking chips!I use these for making an alternative form of peanut butter cups. I melt the Lily's and spoon a little into the mini silicon molds (the ones about the size of a Reese's cup). I add some Teddy's peanut butter (peanuts only, no other ingredients) and then top it with another thin layer of the melted Lily's chocolate. I pop them into the freezer and then take one out a minute or two before I want to eat it. A great treat without all the added sugar!FYI -- if you have a Whole Foods near you, they are $7 a bag there.

These are the best sugar free chocolate chips. Most chocolate chips sweetened with a sugar replacement have a chalky feel or strange aftertaste and these do not! I use these every time I make something for friends with dietary restrictions. They’re a little pricey but worth it!

I love to eat dark chocolate, but since I am diabetic, I always look for sugar-free or chocolate with a low amount of sugar. Sugar-free chocolate always raises my blood sugar. When I ordered Lily's I was not expecting to have delicious chocolate because it contains stevia and erythritol, I usually do not like their taste. But to my surprise, Lily's Dary chocolate was so delicious and creamy when I added to my low carb chocolate chip cookies. Also, it lasts for a long time and the price is right if you want to have a healthy delicuos chocolate.

Package arrived USPS with a small ice pack which was warm by the time I arrived that afternoon and removed it from the mailbox. I ended up with a melted and re-solidified, lumpy, chocolate bar. I had to chop the bar into small pieces to use. If you’re in a warm climate, which is most of the US right now, know this and maybe wait until fall season to order, or be prepared to deal with a chocolate bar. I still used the chocolate and I am not blaming the seller.
