Good device, falls just a bit short
Update: I have had this for 14 months now. The unit works pretty well unless I try to pay StarCraft II full screen. At that point after a few minutes the laptop just turns off - no low power warnings or hibernating warnings, just a hard power off. I cannot turn the laptop back on until I remove the internal battery and unplug the external battery pack. When I plug them both in the laptop powers back up and I see both batteries have plenty of power, so something goes wrong when pulling too much current. Less than full-screen does not cause the problem, and I never see the problem except during full-screen gaming. Because of this I have lowered the unit from 4 stars to 3.After 1 year the capacity seems to have dropped by about 10%, but overall that's not bad as it gets very regular use. My daughter spends 2.5 hours at the ice rink every Saturday and so I sit in the cold rink (reduces the need to power cooling on the laptop), and I can play World of Warcraft for just barely the 2.5 hours between the internal and external batteries. With just the internal it lasts just over an hour, so the external basically the run-time.----I bought this mainly for use with my Dell Vostro 1720 (a behemoth of a laptop) and an Eee PC 1000HA netbook. The tip for Dell laptops is included, as long as you have the barrel plug that Dell has been primarily using for the last few years. It also included a tip for the Eee PC, however the voltage output was wrong so I needed to order a "Wiley Cable" from Energizer that converted the voltage. Wiley Cables are not free through the free-tips for life, however it does reduce the cost from $20 to $8. Shipping and handling was $4. There is no obvious outward warning that the battery is nearly empty, only 5 lights that only show when you press the status button, so that is a bit of a bummer. The battery pack charges pretty quickly, going from 0 to ~80% in about 1 hour, and then another 2 or 3 to top off. I have only had this battery pack for about a week, so I can't testify to the longevity yet.The XP18000 kept my laptop up 1 minute shorter than the internal battery, but I did notice that the laptop did not switch over to the internal battery when the XP18000 was drained, which I suspect is an engineering flaw in the laptop as the laptop didn't notice the power input had dropped too low and that it should switch. Aside from that issue, it works great. I am taking a 6-hour flight to Hawaii soon and will use the internal battery on my laptop to about 10%, then I will plug in the XP18000 to avoid losing power twice. With the Eee PC I have no clue how much uptime it will give me, but looking at the watt-hours of my Dell, Eee PC, and the XP18000, the math works out to about 8 hours on the XP18000 in addition to the 5 hours my Eee PC would stay up on it's own. Certainly more than enough for any meeting packed (or class packed) day.The 3 things I would add to this product are: a second USB power port; a better indicator of when the battery will be dead; and a nice carrying case for the battery, power cord, and tips.

Beware of the "free tips" and "guaranteed to work" blanket statements
I was excited to get this new product, but I have since been a bit disappointed. At the first glance the unit is great, it comes with a lot of wires and tips out of the bag. But at least in my case, they are all sitting in a box at home, since none of them fit my Asus Zenbook. So the natural thing was to go and order the the tip from the website. And yes the tip is free but they charge about $4 for shipping, and like those infomercials on TV each item carries shipping fees.So far I could swallow my pride and live with, what is really frustrating is that the tip I received doesn't fit any of the cables that comes with the unit! Why? why couldn't there be an adapter for it in the kit? The suggested solution after contacting the company XPAL was: "Cables can be purchased at a discounted rate through our free tips for life program for $4.95. However, it will take out from your yearly allowance of 2 tips a year" add shipping and handling and you're looking at about another $20 before you can get it to work. The unit is really nicely designed, it's sleek and relatively lightweight. However, the adapter is awkward, and comes with a thick ugly power cord that takes as much space as the adapter itself. Do the designers think about a question like: The person who is getting this product cares about space, they probably commute or travel a lot which is why they have decided to buy this. So lets use a thinner cable?Anyway, Also the nice coiled wire for the 5V micro-USB is faulty and I end up using a regular USB cable. And perhaps the last annoying thing is that my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 complains that the device is low current, even though the advertised rating on the battery shows it to be enough, but there is a red x on the battery of the Note when it is charging with the XP18000 as opposed to a regular wall charger.

AWESOME, you will not regret purchasing!!!
I purchased both the XP18000 and XP4001 in March'11 and have not regretted it once! I velcroed them together for convenience and portability. It's a little bulky but more than manageable, even in a medium laptop bag/bookbag or briefcase. This is great for long plane rides and road trips to maintain power on pretty much all electronic devices. I'm yet to have a device that one of the included tips did not fit, but I primarily use the mini and micro usb tips and the ones specific for my two laptops...only using/charging one laptop at a time with XP18000.XP18000I have a lot of business related trips across the Atlantic that last anywhere between 9-12hrs. I normally charge both XPALs the night before (fully charged in roughly 3-5hrs) my trips and also have my laptop fully charged as well. When I run the battery down to about 15-20% (roughly 3hrs), I hook it up to the XP18000 and all is well in the world again.XP4001I use this smaller XPAL to charge my cell phones so as to not take away from the power that the XP18000 provides to my laptop(s). The XP4001 is great by itself for smaller devices but even better as supplement to the XP18000. Its a bit overkill to have both XPALs but I hate not having my juice when I need it & I'm sure you can agree! With both XPALs (as long as they're charged at the beginning of my trips) I never have to rush to find an AC outlet to keep my devices juiced up.The beauty of the XPALs (and the competitors power packs as well) is that devices are provided power and are being charged at the same time. So if your XPAL runs out of juice while powering/charging your device you'll still have a device that's most likely fully charged; It's just like your plugged into an AC outlet.Devices I charged with XPALs: Sony Vaio, Dell Lattitude, Toshiba Satellite, Blackberry, Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Note 2Pros: LED lights indicate charge status Rechargeable Compact AC adapter (XP4001 only) Unlimited replaceable tips once registered All tips included with XP4001 also come with XP18000 (spares) Simultaneous charging of up to two devices (XP4001), three devices (XP18000) at onceCons: Seems bulky at times (XP18000 only) Bulky AC adapter/power brick (XP18000 only) Keeping up with detachable tips (but a pouch is provided)...buy one or both, you wont regret it!

More power at your elbow
Saw one in Singapore airport during a stopover but my wife dragged me away before I could buy it. Just as well because £50 cheaper at Amazon. About 3x the capacity of the average laptop battery. Very useful to power your gadgets on a long airplane journey. Excellent quality; you can get free tips if the ones supplied do not fit (they probably will) but postage is steep.

Mobile printing as well
Once I had acquired a suitable adapter for UK power sockets, not supplied, this little pack met my expectations. Compact, light and well packaged, it comes with a number of adapters neatly separated into three voltage ranges; 5 volts for phones and media players, 9-12V for other media devices and 16-20V for netbooks and notebooks. For the latter the label says "only" but one of the reasons I bought this was to power a mobile A4 printer and that worked perfectly. Charging time on the mains is about two hours, similar to the time needed to bring a laptop battery from low to full charge.I cannot comment on any of the other adapters.

Life saver
I use this to power a wifi access point I also use it to power/recharge my phone when i am out and about...the only down side I have a netbook which I requested a power socket for and it didnt work... however this is still an accellent product and I would recommend if you need a long life batter to power your usb devices this is the one to get...

Great product, but not correctly advertised.
This is a wonderful, powerful and technically very flexible battery pack. But was advertised as directly comparable with MS surface devices. This is not the case. Energizer cant make the connection leads to link this to the surface due to copyright issues. You must get these separately from third party sources.

Received on time and well packed, complete with accessories to connect to various appliances. Ran Toshiba lap top (without internal battery) for a good time including several restarts (computer problems). I can recharge my I phone many times, but did not have patience to test to limit. This product is recommendded if you are going to be away from a charging source longer than internal batteries will survive. Of course only time will tell how battery performance will perform or degrade over time.
