Great biography!
This book is a well-written biography about a person, Mr. Culveyhouse, who lived a wonderful life and died from a terrible disease. The book was written by a friend as a gift to Mr. Culveyhouse, but there is much we can all learn from the life he lead. Golf enthusiasts will especially enjoy the golf stories! If you found this book the way I did, by searching for books about ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, you will find this book does not focus much on the disease. Jimmy's symptoms are described and the disease is explained, but there is not much detail about the specifics of caring for someone with ALS in case that's what you are looking for. I'm very impressed by Jimmy and how he chose to spend his remaining time by raising money for ALS research which couldn't benefit him. It's a great book and the money raised through sales will benefit ALS research. BUY THE BOOK!!!!!!!!

I Bought This Book as a way of contributing to ALS research...
...What I got in return was an educational, funny, sad and mostly inspiring book about an fascinating journey of an amazing guy. The book made me wish I had graduated from Notre Dame and thankful that I have an understanding of sports... I found the entire story to be a wake up call about the nature of life. It reinforced that the American Dream is very much alive for talented people who are willing to work hard....and also blew the fantasy that the "Golden Years" are guaranteed. The author wrote this book as a tribute to a former classmate to help him achieve the very last item on his "bucket list", which was to raise one million dollars for ALS research.., little did he know, that he also might inspire people by sharing Jimmy's life and revelations as well as his own.THIS BOOK IS MUST BUY FOR NOTRE DAME FANS

Great Read.
The author Chris did a great job of writing this book for being a self proclaimed "bad writer". It opens your eyes to the suffering from all angles that people deal with when fighting ALS. Whether it be the patient, family, or care giver everyone is a affected. Also all the of the proceeds go to ALS research which is something very special for Chris to do.

An Incredible Journey and Inspirational Book
Fighting to Give is an amazing account of one man's journey through life full speed. The author, Chris Stevens, captures the true essence of Jimmy Culveyhouse and his accomplishments, and incredible generosity to his family, friends and later to ALS. The love of his wife, friends, Notre Dame, golf, and life itself is told in the words of not only the author but accounts by his closest friends and Jimmy himself. A wonderful read although a heartbreaking disease for anyone to suffer through. Highly recommend you read this and donate to ALS.

FIGHTING TO GIVE
Numerous times we were asked whether we have been touched by an angel..After reading this book twice, I truly feel that I have been touched by many ANGELS! The angels that disguised themselves in the form of great friends. Never before in my life that I came across such devotion from 'a guy' to another 'guy' at the level of the author had for his friend Jimmy Culveyhouse. The life story of Jimmy Culveyhouse was so well written, so well paragraphed, and so well put together by Christopher Stevens.Reading this book will make you feel like you were traveling along with them on their life journey. It will empower you to keep going, to keep caring, to keep sharing, and to keep FIGHTING TO GIVE even in the middle of the grief and misfortune life may challenge you with. This is a book that you want to share with your friends and people around you. Please keep Jimmy's mission alive. Please pay it forward!! Thank you.

Fantastic!
Chris Steven's book, Fighting to Give: The Jimmy Culveyhouse Story, was one fantastic book. The author, an old grade school and high school friend of mine, did a wonderful thing by writing and publishing this biography. A simple message of "give more than you take" comes through loud and clear and is an inspiration to live every day that way because it might be your last. Buy the book, read it, and pass it on to others. Donate to the Culveyhouse fund.

A study in compassion and bravery
This book is an excellent account of the bravery of a man who knows he is going to die, but wants to live the rest of his life in a full, and giving, way. Jimmy Culveyhouse is an individual who I have never known, but I feel like I know him extremely well after reading this book. While he lived only 54 years, those years were full of excitement, passion, and good friends and that comes through loud and clear in this book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a true life account of an American hero who, in death, is trying to help others live. John Trucano
