ViewHD RCA AV Composite Video to HDMI 720P | 1080P Upscaling Mini Converter | VHD-AV2H

I originally had a problem getting this to work... I was getting test patterns. The seller gave the below advice and it resolved my issues' For me the problem was that I was not using the power cord that came with the device because it was too short. Once I tried it with the original power cord everything worked fine. Now I just need to know what kind of power cord this is so I can find a longer one. Product troubleshooting steps: 1) Make sure that the PAL / NTSC switcher is at the right position. North America uses NTSC format. 2)Make sure to use the USB cord to provide power (5V1A USB charger), always use USB power if possible. For example, if the HDMI power is insufficient, you may see vertical color bar (test pattern) instead of normal video. If you get bad audio noise, you must use USB power cord to provide a good ground to your setup. 3) Disconnect input and output cables and reconnect, power on the display and the video source unit. If the output video is not centered, please disconnect and reconnect the HDMI input to the converter. 4) If still doesn't work (in particular, if you use a PC / Mac, make sure to use "extended display mode"), cross check using other video sources (AppleTV, Roku, DVD / Blu-ray Players, Cable / Satellite Boxes, etc) to make sure whether it is because of your uncommon HDMI video source unit. 5) If you don't get audio, please make sure the input HDMI audio format is 2CH stereo. 6) Also cross check HDMI cable; this is HDMI to AV (yellow/white/red) converter, not a HDMI to component (Red/Green/Blue) converter.

Did not come with a power supply. When I did get it working, the thing only worked for 6-8 hours before it started putting out very bad video distortions, and it never recovered.

Thankful for what it does, but it doesn't always work. You have to plug it on and off before it works.

I'm giving this unit the benefit of the doubt by giving it 4/5 stars just incase it's operator error (my fault). I'm trying to connect my Apple TV through this device to my samsung smart tv (yes, I know I could just use the HDMI and operate it normally without this device) but I'm testing it on this tv before I install it in my car.

Absolutely love it. I do a lot of video capture and I love using older devices. This helps me out immensely as my capture device is HDMI input. Simply plug it into my desktop, plug in whatever I need to capture and then plug in an HDMI cable. Have had no problems and the picture quality doesn't suffer at all. Highly recommend.

This is advertised as an upscaler but does no such thing. For people without a digital tv then it's the cheap way to go for your devices, but I noticed zero difference in quality when I used this for my Nintendo 64.

Great device. I used it to play a GameCube on a TV with only HDMI ports. It works very well but it outputs to 16:9 aspect ratio. Making everything slightly stretched. My TV doesn't have a force 4:3 mode. Seems most TV systems are excluding this feature and I wish this had a switch one it or something. Overall awesome.
