Great item. Looks really nice
Good quality. Bright lights. Pretty simple install. I suggest using a splice terminal connector for reverse light splice.2 suggestions1- Next time run the wires thru the middle of the hitch instead of on top2- Maybe adding an easy plug/unplug option to the line that runs to the reverse lights to make it an easy uninstall and reinstall.

Works as advertised
I purchased this item to provide better visibility when backing into a dark garage. I connected the "5th" backup light lead to a similar plug as the 4 pre-wired leads. I then connected to a 5 pin "car side" female connector. This works great. My only complaint about the construction of this item is wiring lead is designed to be pinched between the hitch receiver and the foam cushion. It would have been better if the leads were run through the hitch.

Works well and easy to install but needs a minor modification.
Purchase and Shipping: The product actually arrived prior to the advertised delivery date even during the busy shipping days in the run up to Christmas.Operation: This hitch light works properly electrically, which I have not found to be the case with a few other hitch receiver bumper/lights I had bought and had to return. The red light illuminates to 50% brightness when the parking/running lights are on and to 100% when the brakes are applied; however, there is a slight lag in the illumination of the unit's brake light as compared to the native brakes lights on the car presumably due to the fact that the native lights use incandescent bulbs and this unit uses light emitting diodes (LEDs). The light also flashes at 100% illumination when the flashers are turned on but does not, correctly so, flash when the directional blinkers are in use. If you have your parking/running lights on and shift into reverse, the unit's 50% red light turns off and the white backup light turns on. When you shift out of reverse, the white light turns off and the red light turns back on at 50% unless you also are engaging the brake in which case it turns on to 100% and will remain illuminated even while in reverse as it should. The unit's backup light adds just enough of the illumination I was seeking to supplement the vehicle's reverse lights to be able to see better when backing up. It could be brighter but the unit's small size and convenience was a compromise to other, larger lighting units.Installation: Installing the light was easy enough but it needed one modification for it to fit into the female slot of the vehicle's 2" receiver hitch because the wiring for the unit runs outside the square of the male insert. On the one hand, if one tries to run the wires through the receiver hitch, the unit would not fit into the receiver without forcing it in and the wires would be squished between the walls of the receiver risking damage to the wiring's insulation. On the other hand, if the wires were run outside of the receiver, the unit would not fit flush in the receiver with the hitch pin holes aligned making the hitch pin difficult to insert. The wiring would also be exposed to road hazards in this case. The work around for this is to drill/cut a ½" wide x 1 ⅜" long slot (the dimensions of the plug) in the male part of the receiver just large enough to pass the plug and all of the wiring through to the inside of the unit as shown in the first photograph. It is easy enough to do as the material is plastic. Drill two smaller pilot holes first than work up in size to ½" such that the opposite ends of the holes are 1 ⅜" apart then just use a small saw blade such as on a Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman to cut the rest of the material out between the holes. A small semicircular recess also needs to be carefully cut into the unit at the base of the wiring to accommodate the diameter of the wiring with its insulation in order for the unit to fit flush and seal against the face of the receiver. This needs to be done carefully as mentioned to avoid damaging the wiring's insulation. I used a Dremel tool with a small circular grinder to do this. Lastly, as they tell you, there is no getting around having to hard wire the wire for the reverse/backup light; it is not “plug and play” like the wiring for the tail, flashers, and brake light. The relative ease or difficulty to do this will depend upon your specific vehicle, just be sure you add in a quick disconnect on the reverse light wire near the receiver so you can disconnect and remove the unit and actually use your trailer hitch for towing.

Modification required for a flush look
Works great but far from perfect. Depending on the condition of your hitch the shank may need to be trimmed. The wire would need to be tucked inside the shank because it gets pinned and kinked when sliding into the hitch. That means you'll have to drill and cut to route it inside then out the other end of the hitch.

Buy this!
This thing looks amazing and is so bright . You DO Have to figure out how to wire in the reverse circuit. It’s plug and play except for that. I found the wire in my bundle not being used and tapped into it with the suppled wire. Sturdy not cheap

UPDATED -Product failed after 6 months
I was very happy with this however it has failed after about 6 months. WARNING-the failure actually shorted out my brake/tail lights. I have no idea how long I have been driving around without brake lights! Beware the failure of this could cause a serious safety issue.Once this was in place I am happy and it works and looks great. As others have said I also had to make a modification by cutting a slot into the plastic to get the wires inside the tube - it absolutely would not fit into my hitch receiver with the wires outside the tube, there was simply not enough clearance. Also you do have to tap into the existing reverse light wiring.
