The independent-minded cat has been domesticated for around 5,000 years but in all that time it has held on to its mysterious ways. Here are eight fine examples of modern cat breeds: Spotted Shorthair, Russian Blue, Persian, Japanese Bobtail, Havana Brown, Blotched Tabby, Burmese, and Domestic Shorthair. The pictures are printed on special paper that allows light to shine through. First cut the pages from the book as neatly as you can, Then color the pictures, using crayons, felt-tip pens, or paints. You'll get particularly interesting effects if you color both sides, using different colors on the backs than on the fronts. When the pictures are taped to a window, the sunlight shines through them, the way it shines through colored glass. Review: Dover Stained Glass little coloring books are FABULOUS and fun! - From my great experience with all other little Dover activity books, (i.e., various themed little coloring books: animal ABC's, dinosaur ABC's; or little books of just about any subject a child could be interested in. Some contain info with nice sized text; then there are the extra special reusable themed sticker books... love 'em!) I expected the stained glass editions to be of just as good quality and artistic value... and this is PERFECT! The cat pictures are great and can teach a child the simple steps of drawing a cat while coloring in this little book. The drawing/painting pages are made of sturdy transparent-ish paper (the paper is not completely clear because if it were, color would not adhere to it) and I know it can't be torn easily if at all. As with all Dover products, the line drawings are great. We used markers, watercolor paint (washable & non-washable), and even Crayola watercolor pencils... all worked/looked great and adhered to the special paper beautifully. When you hold the picture up the light or tape it onto a window it's beautiful and the kids were so happy with their works of art. And they look equally nice on the fridge, etc. This paper makes the colors vivid and vibrant (esp. markers) and kids will be proud of their little masterpieces. I have never been disappointed in ANY Dover products... children's or adult's. The artwork is fantastic...I use the line drawings of these books as references for art students (young and old) The price is ALWAYS low and I don't know how they do it! For $1.35 on desertcart (normally $1.50 from Dover Publications, unless you buy 10 or more of one publication) you can't go wrong. I always have some "little activity books" on hand for kids from 2-7 or older... depending on the kid. For a long or short trip, these little stained glass books are perfect for little ones to use in their car seat. just give them a few washable markers and I guarantee they will enjoy the ride. The sturdy, semi-transparent paper and adorable yet simple drawings make them very special. (I do wish Dover would use desertcart's "look inside" with ALL of their books.) Review: Interesting Coloring Book Concept ... - "Dover Stained Glass Little Cats Coloring Book" is a very interesting coloring book concept. Printed on translucent paper, segments of the stained glass cat figures are outlined with thick black lines meant to resemble lead. One can then color the "pieces" of stained glass segments to create the complete window. By removing the page, either before or after coloring, the finished cat can be placed in a window to allow light to shine through for a stained glass effect. I found "Dover Stained Glass Little Cats Coloring Book" pictures most closely resembled stained glass windows when markers were used for coloring. Using crayons produced a more opaque window and a less attractive product. This small, as it is accurately described in the product description dimensions, coloring book is ideal for traveling or for transporting in your "mom purse" along with other items you carry to amuse your children. "Dover Stained Glass Little Cats Coloring Book" is another quality coloring book produced by Dover. I recommend their coloring books if you are looking for something other than the commercially hyped cartoon character coloring books.

loved the
IF you plan on using these coloring books for your designs on fabric, please be sure to write to the company and ask their permission to use this, since all the works are copyrighted, and you can be into trouble if they find out that you took some of their works of art to sell on fabric designs. As an artist myself I found out that someone took one of my books and copied my pictures of my art work onto their jackets and sold them for a profit without giving me any recognition, and I took them to court and won on the case. So if you take any of the the coloring books and use them for your own venture and gain, please Ask Permission to use their art work or you will be sued. loved the cats

Timeless cool coloring!
I'm in my late 20s now and I had loads of these books when I was growing up and I really loved them, I have fond memories of coloring for hours and then taping them up to my bedroom window. I wanted to pass along the memories to my little cousins who are 5-8 so I bought a variety of books. Both girls and boys alike found themes they liked in the Dover Stained Glass series, there are lots of different ones to choose from. The snowflake ones were especially appropriate for the snow we just had and I received a photo of some colored snowflakes taped on the window with snow in the background. Fun!

Another book found!
Love the different cats and their breed names on the back. Too bad my 80 different markers don't include some of the exotic colors so I have the cats to go with my unicorns crazy colors and designs if I choose. Love it!!

So much fun
I took their advice and colored different colors on each side of the translucent paper and loved it. I passed it to a favorite kid and got myself the full-sized Tiffany and Frank Lloyd Wright window ones :)

Not worth the money
Not happy, expected full size book! Book is about the size of your hand! If I could give negative stars it would be negative 10!

Great little Colouring Book!
These are great little colouring books. I’ve purchased several now to stash away in Emergency grab bags. I love how small and compact they are… and this cat one is supposed to resemble “stained glass”. I’m not sure what the pages are made out of but it’s not your standard paper. It’s slightly see thru so it once coloured it would really look like stained glass. If you are looking for a standard size colouring book this is not it but it’s exactly what I was looking for to use in a child’s Emergency kit. Would also be great for stocking stuffers, travelling, on the go, party favours or just for something different to colour rather than a standard colouring book. My cat loving kids love these!!

Deceptive title!
So funny - I thought this would be a regular A4 size colouring book with pictures of little cats! But it really is a little book about the size of a postcard, hence the cheap price. Parchment paper pages for the stained glass effect is neat.

A wee book!
This book is tiny, near A6 size. The cats in it are OK but I think they will look better once they are coloured in. It's not quite ready for stained glass work as the patterns are not broken up in cuttable sections. More of a colouring book.
