It is a durable, efficient, and safe pressure cooker. The Hawkins CB50 Hard Anodized Pressure Cooker is an excellent choice. It’s really great for everyday use. It is enough for 6 servings too. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to invest in a high-quality pressure cooker.

This little pressure cooker is great for perfect rice and does fine with steel cut oats, those little potatoes, and small batches of dried beans even - if you compare to the price of one of those rice cookers, it's a steal, and frankly, those electronically controlled ones are overly complicated and expensive - and are huge pain to store too. As others have rightfully mentioned, you do have to pay attention to keeping the seal clean, and that you latch the lid with the seal seats evenly all around the top or there's a slight leak preventing it from coming up to pressure. It's amazing how fast, easy, and great rice comes out too...

It's good enough, we are everyday using it.

Westerners used to Western style pressure cookers will have to practice latching the lid, which fits to the UNDERSIDE of the pot rim, not atop it. And the "whistles" (or steam flushes) are disconcerting but one gets accustomed to that. I love this. It was bought for camping/hurricane gear, but with only 2 of us in the household now, I can see myself using this a LOT! Dried pigeon peas- 4 minutes till done! (Reminder- froth can plug your vents- always use a pat of butter or a little oil when cooking dried pulse.) Having produced charcoal in my Presto cooker more than once- I really, REALLY appreciate the safety plug- which melts prior to reaching explosion -worthy temperatures and releases pressure, thereby almost totally negating the risk of an explosion. Just in case, I did buy a spare safety plug 11/29/2016 I decided to keep the pressure cooker as reviewed above in the house and buy a separate 1.5 liter one for camping. Really glad I did that!

Recieved today. This is my second one this week. I returned the first one due to seal leakage before reaching FOP. (Made in China, of course!!) I tested this one with water. Took @5minutes to arrive at FOP. But no leakage!!! I’m happy with that alone. I’ve heard some say the lid is confusing them. It did me too! UNTIL I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! As I always say, if you can’t figure it out, RTFD!!!!! If you look at the base opening and lid, you will see they are not round….oval shaped ever so slightly!!!! Now you understand the rest of the story! BTW: made in India ….and the cook book recipes are all Indian recipes. But I’m sure the internet is full of all types of recipes for pressure cookers. Not sure why there aren't better reviews for this item. I've only been using it for a short time but I've found it works fabulously. It's the perfect size for 1 to 3 people. Very convenient and easy to clean. The locking mechanism gets some taking use to but it seals great, and once you've figured out how to close it, using it is a breeze. Just don't lose the rubber ring/grommet that seals the top when cleaning. Seems like it will last a long time, as well.

This is strong and rises above the expectations. When I got it, it took a little bit to figure out how to get the cover secure. But once I did it has been on and popping

When I got it in on the 1rst day didn’t pay attention to the O-gasket. Is that black circle that goes on the lid, and if is not put wright the lid won’t be sealed and closed properly. The instructions don’t explain that part. I asked online but whoever answered had no clue how to explain it. Anyway there is a tiny white dot and that part has to be placed under the lid handle or otherwise it stays loose. That’s the only issue I had with this. Other than that everything alls is set. Very good Product. I am impressed. I red ppl saying that leaks but I didn’t experience any leaks. It does what is supposed to do Perfect. Would def recommend this Product.

Cook looking pressure cooker with awkward way to close the pot but it looks just fine and quality made. Unfortunately this exact type/model i've bought is not compatible with induction cooking so i had to return this item.
