No strap, it slips over the head and is material , not plastic - so kid can play easily wearing it. I think it fits true to size

Does this fits a child 48"?

Yes it will. 48" is approx 121cm. My daughter is around 118cm & the pants are still a little too long

What material is the costume? How durable is it?

It’s like a quick dry tennis top material. Pretty durable. And it looks fantastic. Purchased a year ago & whilst we didn’t end up using it for the occasion she still fitted a year later & went as the pink ranger for book week at school. Also well made

Can she wear this to play in?

Yes, my daughter plays in hers all the time!!
