JBL J55a BLK High Performance On Ear Headphones with JBL Drivers, Rotatable Ear Cups and Microphone, Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I ordered these with high hopes. I ended up returning them. Here's what is right and wrong with them...Pros:They are compact. They fold up nicely, the cord is detachable and the included zippered pouch has room for an MP3 player or a spare battery for your phone. They sound decent for music. Listening to rock/metal, the guitars really stand out.Cons:They are muddy and lack mid-range. They do have plenty of bass, but a little too much for my taste. The bass drowns out the mid-ranges making dialogue on movies hard to hear. I wish they had an EQ button to turn on/off the bass boost. I also found I am not a fan of the on-ear style, I much prefer over-the -ear. After a 2 hour movie, you just want to take them off. They were fairly comfortable, and did isolate the outside noise nicely, but they just are not comfortable for long term wearing. The remote did nothing other than pause/un-pause playback on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and my wife's Note 3. No volume control, no track jumping, nothing. Very disappointed in that feature.If you are wanting an OK, compact set of headphones for traveling then these might fit your bill. If you are just going to listen to music, these might be great for you. The price is right, but don't expect too much. They are definitely nicer than ear-buds, but there are better options out there. If you like lots of bass, then you will be happy with these. If you want to watch movies on a plane, find something else.There are some comments about the build quality. I did find anything wrong with their construction. I feel that if you take care of them, they would last a long time. If you toss them in and out of a backpack without the pouch, then I could see some issues popping up over time. The rotating points seemed sturdy enough. The ear pads were well stitched and felt like they would hold up well. The padding on the top was an added bonus that I did not expect. The cord jack on the headphones has a nice 90-degree locking feature that will keep the cord from being yanked out accidentally.

Bought as a Christmas present for a 15-year old music aficionado. He is very, very happy. These are much better quality than the Skull Candy brand that he bought with his own money that broke within a year. These are just as good as Beats without the hype and ridiculous pricetag.

the sound quality is great I love jbl product but this one seen to be poor quality I will return it because the ear cups just began to spread out and broke.

Very cheaply made, ear muffin came apart, great sound!!!, not durable at all

Great price and great sound. I compared them to a pair of Beat Solo headphones and they were clearly better. Other than an unnecessary amount of bass, my JBL's had far better sound quality. My only gripe is that they fit kind of tightly to your ears which means you have to take them off every so often to rest the lobes. But overall they're awesome.

They sound great probably one of the best headphones I have heard. I think they could have been made so they didn't feel like they could break if you was not really easy with them

It does the job.
