Can the flecks be put in alcohol without losing their shape?

If you want gold flakes to put in alcohol, like Goldschlager has, you need to buy real food-grade gold flakes. Made of real gold, they wont dissolve. They're pricey, at about $35 for .4 oz... but you can find them on Amazon under "edible gold flakes." these are meant to be used "dry" for toppings on cakes etc where they wont dissolve...they're just cellulose (which is like a dried gelatin.) Though you could probably successfully rim a glass; just like with sugar or salt, they'll dissolve as they contact moisture.

Piggybacking on alcohol question. What if you used the stars to rim the tops of the glasses... would they stay for the most part?

Yes, what a great idea. But, I would dip the rim of the glass in the alcohol to ensure the stars adhere. In the same way you would salt a glass for margaritas. The star are edible so floating them in a drink would give a nice affect.

Can I use this product in ice cream and if so, how does it hold up?

I have used it on buttercream frosting, and after 2 days it looked exactly the same. I wouldn't know how it would do in ice cream but maybe knowing how it behaves on buttercream will help a bit. They are extremely tiny and thin. This is not sugar, it's an edible but flavorless glitter.
