Budget value field knife
At the budget price, I find the MT-113 knife is a very decent value - provided the price remains reasonable. This knife isn't exactly Cold Steel or Ka-bar quality, but it's still a decent knife..The MT-565 knife is also (very much) the same value - same grip, feel, dimensions, quality, and equally awesome for most extreme budget considerations.Watch some videos to see how these knives hold up with tons of real world use, and you could probably appreciate the actual value for the budget knife offered here. The MT-113 isn't a hammer or an axe, and shouldn't be expected to work as such.It isn't designed to be thrown, and you will be disappointed if you expect ANY knife made with multiple parts to perform like a proper throwing knife. The MT-113 was very sharp, right out of the box, and holds an edge about as well as could be expected from a decent, budget grade, stainless steel blade.I paid under $8 for my MT-575, and $9 for my MT-113, and at that price these Mtech knives are a 6 star deal. But a few dollars more will get you a (sale price) Cold Steel knife that will completely outclass this MT-113 or the MT-575.If you use the MT-113 like a ten dollar knife, and expect it to perform like a ten dollar knife, you will be able to appreciate it for what it truly is - and it is excellent at that.I liked mine enough to buy another, and you might choose to do that too.

Great Knife Under $15
This is the second of two M-Tech knives I bought. I got them because they were cheap and I didn't expect much. The drop point hunter version I got first and it was pretty crappy, even though it was a couple bucks more than the tanto rescue. See my review of that knife if you care for details. This knife was different in almost every way. It's hard to believe the same company made them, and since they probably source the knives from different shops - maybe they were different suppliers. The knife had a very good edge, "shaving sharp" as they say. I haven't used the knife, so can't comment on whether it holds an edge. Initial quality of the knife was great for this price. The pommel is tight on the pin and the fit with the end of the tang is excellent, unlike the other version. The pin was snipped off and a sharp edge sticks out that I'll need to dress off with a drill bit. The handle material has more grip than the other, but without any texture it is sure to be slippery when wet. The finger guard is thick and tight and I can't see any gap with the blade or handle. The blade is marked 440 stainless with no letter descriptor. Probably isn't the best steel, but I bought these to practice my sharpening anyway. The blade measures 5/16ths at the spine with a typical tanto grind that brings that thickness almost to the end of the knife at the center of the blade. The point and both ground edges are very well done and remind me of the CS GI tanto I have. Other than the grind the blade is covered in a crappy crinkle finish that I'm sure will come right off since it just looks like paint. I will probably strip it off anyway. The sheath isn't great, but is much better than the hunter. They use better nylon, have better stitching and a snap closure. The liner is better quality and the blade sheath is bowed out a little. This design isn't as tight to the blade, but it seems it will wear better and the snap closure is really secure. I really didn't expect this much knife for under $15. I wish my hunter was this good since that's the more useful blade profile.

An Excellent Tool for Camping, Hunting of Around the Home
Since I no longer crawl around in the jungle or have the ability to hike and camp in the outdoors, one might ask, "why in the heck did you purchase this MTECH USA Rescue Team Fixed Blade Survival Knife 10.25-Inch?" Well, the answer is very simple to me. Because I liked and wanted it! Honestly? I had made an earlier purchase of another brand of knife, almost exactly like this in design and quality, only a more spiffy brand name, at a considerably higher price and it arrived with the striking realization 12.5-Inches is HUGE! Not only that, the design of the knife in hand, is quiet different than looking at it online, as it had a Bowie Knife like aspect to it with a top leading sharpened edge. All of which are illegal to carry in many situations in my state and especially under my limited circumstances. Thus and regrettably, I returned it and with no difficulty from Amazon.com with that transaction. I discovered this specific knife by accident and compared all aspects of it to the previously returned knife, noting the Tanto versus Drop Point blade and at only 10.25-Inches overall length. Now 'THAT' I can deal with much more easily. Ironically, for being so close in quality, design, expected and reviewed performance, it is at a considerably less cost than the previously returned knife. I received the new knife in less than 48 hours, very well package, in excellent condition and very sharp out of the box. It fits very comfortably in my hand, which is average-large, is well balanced, single-edged and extremely sturdy with full tang and strong. I also like the finished coating on the outside of the blade as a personal preference. MTECH USA is quickly becoming a strong competitor in the tactical, survival, rescue knife arena, where the quality surpasses the investment with the same high quality return as some of the spiffier brand names. I highly recommend this knife especially for those who desire a smaller version of a 12 to 12.5-Inch survival knife, yet with all of the abilities and quality within an overall length of 10.25-Inches. A very sturdy, black, well designed protective sheath is included, which bodes well as an additional asset to this purchase. This is a great knife to meet many needs and challenges and I am very satisfied to have it as part of my collection.
