Went on without any problems. Works well to block out noise and drafts. Hopefully this one will last, I bought a cheaper one last time and it broke after 6 months.

I measured carefully and used a miter box to make a perfectly straight cut and installed as per the instructions. The moving metal bar hangs up as it is supposed to come back up, tearing the rubber strip out of the channel. I've had in on and off 4 times now trying to file down the inner metal part so that it moves up and down smoothly at the ends, but I think I'm done trying.

I'm torn by this. Technically the item's concept works, but not all that well. I found when the plunger is depressed the item doesn't always evenly drop. I got this because I have a 1/3" gap between my carpet and door bottom, but needed a drop of nearly 1" to go from door bottom to bottom of door frame. I found that it dropped enough, but becauses it was a big drop, it can't return up fast enough before it hits and drags on the carpet, even if I open/close the door SUPER slow. BIG NOTE: unless I missed it in the instructions, the item comes with two very thin plates that screw on to each end to act as caps. I precisely cut this down to size, but didn't realize the end caps were in the kit until I was ready to install, and realized with the caps on my sweep was now a MM or 2 too wide. It was a real pain to shave just 1-2 mm off my hand, so factor the covers in while cutting to size.While this product didn't meet my expectations, I'll give customer service 3 out of 5 stars. I emailed them asking for advice because it wasn't dropping and returning as I hoped, and received a VM within a day or two. That was nice. But, the helpfulness of the response fell short. The guy basically said 'it should work, it should work, give us a call if you need more help'. In the end, I decided not to bother with returns and will just keep this buried in a closet until one day when I feel like throwing it away. I do not recommend this purchase if you're using it with carpet. Maybe on a smooth floored surface it'd be better...

I initially though this was a great product. It took careful planning and cutting down to size for my application. I made sure that it did not drag at all after proper adjustment and in 3 months time the rubber weatherstripping tore. I have looked all over the WEB for a replacement rubber insert with none to be had anywhere. The only option is to replace the entire mechanism which is crazy...

Very well made but did not work in my application ie in a residential environment. Would work great with heavy steel doors.
