Valvoline has always been a reliable name so I’m not worried.
Had this for about three days since my oil change and so far everything feels good. Got it for an older engine that runs better on a thicker viscosity and no issues yet. Buying it as a case is handy and the price per quart is fair. Knocked off one star just because three days isn’t enough to say anything definitive, but first impressions are solid. Valvoline has always been a reliable name so I’m not worried.

What oil is best? Boy, there are online comment wars that go on forever. I use this oil in my 1930-31 Model A Fords. They seem to do well on this formulation which has more zinc than other oils, which helps these old design engines. Your opinion may be different. The funny thing is if the engines last a long time, or have problems, one person’s experience isn’t sufficient to draw a conclusion that predicts what your engine will do. Also, these 95 year old engines don’t have oil filters, so I change it every 750 - 1,000 miles. The original 95 year old instructions say every 500 miles but I’m guessing this stuff is better than what they had back in 1930.

Best oil for old bikes
If you’re riding an old bike with flat tappets and a shared primary. This is the oil for you. Heavy zinc to protect your cam and no garbage to make your clutch slip. Been running this in my 1966 Triumph 650 for 10 years trouble free. It doesn’t even leak, but I can’t guarantee that for your bike.
