This is NOT Raid!
It seems that most of the negative reviews are from customers who do not understand what this product is or how it works. Let me be clear: THIS. IS. NOT. RAID! It's actually better! Raid is a chemical substance that is designed to sicken and kill insects almost instantly upon contact. Which is great if you happen to see the bugs and spray them before they scurry away. But what about the other creepy crawlies that might be lurking elsewhere in your home? Bugs, especially ants and roaches, rarely travel alone. So if you see one, chances are there are others that have yet to reveal themselves. And Raid will only get rid of the bugs that you happen to find and spray yourself. Ortho, on the other hand, isn't designed to kill the bugs immediately. Instead, it infects the bugs with a slow-acting poison that might take hours or even days to actually kill them. How is this a good thing? Because it gives the bugs plenty of time to return to the colony and infect the others with the toxin that clings to their bodies. In my opinion this product is better than Raid because it doesn't require you to find the bugs yourself. Just spray around the areas where you have seen the most bug activity (i.e. basements, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) and voila! The bugs are doomed. Granted, it takes time and patience. Depending on the severity of your infestation, it might take weeks or even months for your home to become completely bug-free. However, you should probably take into consideration that even an overpriced exterminator can't rid you of your bug problem in one quick visit. Most exterminators make frequent visits to your home where they will charge you out the nose just to spray down your living quarters with an almost identical product. Call me crazy, but I'd rather cut out the middle man and save a few Benjamins by doing it myself instead of paying a stranger to come into a house every week to do it for me. I hope this review clarifies any confusion that someone might have and provide future buyers with a better understanding of what they're actually paying for. Update: Something I forgot to mention in my original post is the importance of keeping a clean and dry home. The poison works by attacking the bugs' immune system and making them fatally ill. And just like humans require food and lots of fluids to recover when we're sick, so do bugs. Keeping your home dry and clean as possible will allow the extermination process to work much more efficiently.

Now living roach free!
I randomly started seeing roaches in my place after living here a few months. I believe a neighbor had an infestation because they were EVERYWHERE in my place. I tried everything to get rid of them including moth balls, peppermint oil, roach bait, sticky traps, never leaving food out, etc. All those other things provided temporary relief but this product here was the SOLUTION. It is odorless and doesnโt leave any residue when it dries. The trigger and long nozzle makes it easy to spray in tough-to-reach places. I used to see at least one daily and now I havenโt seen any since I applied it months ago. I imagine this will last me for quite a while because I treated my entire place and barely made a dent.

Effective barrier, but takes hours to kill exposed insects.
Good bug barrier, any bugs that move through the areas you sprayed will die hours after exposure. I use the indoor spay outdoors as well around windows and along the foundation. Indoors is baseboards and anyplace water can be found (kitchen, baths) as Cockroaches need the moisture. Bad part is outside bugs can still get inside, but will be dead soon after getting indoors.

Effective Indoor Insect Barrier With EasyโtoโUse Wand โ Great Results, Slightly Bulky Packaging
Summary: A highly effective indoor insect control product that noticeably reduces pests, comes with excellent packaging, and features a very convenient extendedโreach wand. Works well as part of a DIY pestโcontrol routine. Details: I decided to cancel my commercial pestโcontrol subscription and switch to a DIY setup using exterior perimeter products plus this Ortho Home Defense Max Indoor Insect Barrier for indoors. Surprisingly, it worked extremely well. After applying it along baseboards, door frames, and windowsills, I stopped seeing any insect activity โ no ants, roaches, spiders, or stray bugs wandering inside. For an overโtheโcounter solution, it performs impressively, and many highโrated reviews mention similar results. The packaging is sturdy and secure. The container doesnโt leak, and the instructions are clear. The highlight is definitely the Extended Reach Comfort Wand. It makes application so much easier because you donโt have to bend, crouch, or get close to corners and edges. The wand sprays evenly and gives you good coverage without soaking the surface. Itโs also compatible with other Ortho products, which is convenient if you prefer sticking with one brand for consistent results. What I appreciate most is how effortless it is to apply a full barrier around the home. Whether used as a preventative treatment or after seeing signs of insects, it works quickly and continues protecting for months on nonporous surfaces. The only improvement Iโd suggest is offering a concentrate or powder version. Having to store multiple gallon bottles of liquid can take up space, especially for repeated use throughout the year. A mixโwithโwater concentrate would reduce waste and make longโterm use even more economical. Still, for effectiveness, ease of use, and convenience, this product is an excellent choice for DIY home pest control. What I liked โข Very effective โ no insect activity after use โข Great packaging, no leaks, easy to store โข Extended wand makes application easy and ergonomic โข Consistent spray pattern for clean barrier lines โข Works perfectly with other Ortho products โข Longโlasting protection on nonporous surfaces What could be better โข A powder or concentrate version would save storage space โข A clearer measuring indicator on the bottle would help track usage

Easy to use and it works for months
It's summertime and also time for little bugs to come indoors. I ordered this and it came immediately. I love the way the delivery person reads the instructions and leaves the product just where I ask. I love this stuff. It's easy to use. I go along the entire baseboards in the home and I don't see a ug for months. I spray every month just to keep them away. There is no smell and the nozzle is easy to use. I highly recommend it for keeping your home bug free.

Sprayer Is Bad
Package arrived and I opened it up and read the instructions and tested it out in a few spots where I knew there was a lot of insect activity. At first the sprayer wasn't spraying very well but after I held it down for 10 to 15 seconds it started going just fine. The next day I decided I'd take it and I cover all the areas around the house. But to my surprise the sprayer wasn't working very well. I thought okay well maybe some of the liquid inside dried up so I check the nozzle tip and nothing was there. I made sure the cap was in the "ON" position. I took the cap off and place the hose down in some hot water to clear the line. Still couldn't get it to spray. At this point it wasn't spraying anything whereas before it was at least putting out a little bit of liquid even though it was just dribbling out instead of spraying. I noticed the water wasn't even able to make it up the tube as well. I ended up taking the entire wand apart to make sure there weren't any kinks or anything else wrong on the inside. After finding nothing wrong I reassembled the wand and I put brand new batteries in that I knew were good just to make sure the batteries hadn't gone bad. Nothing. Started checking around online for solutions. Found one video saying to hold the bottle above the sprayer. That didn't work but what ended up working was tilting the bottle on its side. This works temporarily but it 1. Makes it annoying to hold 2. Once the liquid level goes down enough it won't be able to grab the liquid. In short the product (the pesticides inside) works great. The sprayer is crap though. I suggest just buying refills or concentrate and putting them in your own sprayer.

Bug problem? Buy It!
I am normally too lazy to write a review for anything. But I have to write one for this product. I live in Brooklyn, NYC and typically in the summer months I will see a few roaches here and there when the weather gets really hot (and that my neighbors next door are axxholes who doesn't up keep their home). This year I am not sure if it's the hurricane or Covid and people are not leaving too much trash behind, my home had been invaded by those giant American cockroaches. The ones that you see photos in google and just want to look away because it was that horrific. I was so scared that I can't even go to the bathroom at night because I feel like one will be lurking in the dark some where. I was literally a prisoner at my own home because I was so scared of them. I googled everything about how to get rid of roaches. And the more I found out the more that I a scared since they can carry a lot of diseases and get you really sick. Just the idea of using a plate that was crawled all over by these critters is grossing me out. I literally torn my house apart and sealed up everything little crevices I can find and clean the heck out of everything and every time I cooked I mop that kitchen down to spotlessness. That did help a little, but I can still see one of two of these roaches crawling at night. I hate using chemicals around the house unless I have to. But I felt like I have no other option at this point. So, I came across this product on google. I had gotten Ortho for outdoor defense use a few years back and I am not sure how well that worked since I normally don't have a bug problem. I decided to give this indoor version and try. I just received this two days ago. Sprayed down my house yesterday with it. Last night when I went to the bathroom, I saw that one of the roach dead on the floor. It just died! It was like the happiest moment of my life for days that I don't have to worry and have an anxiety attack chasing it down and summon all the courage I have to kill it somehow. I can just grab the dust pan the sweep it away. This product works! I don't think it is something that is like Raid and kills on contact (since that died roach was not near anywhere I sprayed), but it some how does kill it. It doesn't flume or have any strong smell to it. If you have a bug problem like I do, then just get it, because you won't regret it. See less
