Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, Complete 6-Volume Set: Complete and Unabridged [Henry, Matthew] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible, Complete 6-Volume Set: Complete and Unabridged Review: Excellent, comprehensive commentary - This is a wonderful supplement to the Bible. Nothing is better than the original Scripture, of course, but these commentaries help flesh out the Word and point out things that might have been overlooked or were confusing. Henry goes into quite a bit of depth. Drawbacks? It uses the King James Version so it is a little more difficult to read, and his choice of vocabulary and sentence structure is at times along those lines as well. But what you get out of it makes it well worth it to spend the extra time to read it carefully. The insights provided are valuable. The other drawback is the tiny print used in this edition but at least for me it is still readable with my reading glasses and I figure if it had been done in normal sized print, the books would be a lot more voluminous and expensive. These commentaries are well worth the what I'd say is very reasonable price that is charged. Review: The secret to the Word - Only one drawback, the small print. Other than that it is an excellent resource that clearly fills in the blanks when reading a Bible. It opens up a new world when you want to understand what's sometimes lost in the translation.

The secret to the Word
Only one drawback, the small print. Other than that it is an excellent resource that clearly fills in the blanks when reading a Bible. It opens up a new world when you want to understand what's sometimes lost in the translation.

Great commentary at a great price.
If you are looking for good commentary, Mathew Henry's is one of the best. It not only gives a good interpretation of the text but is also devotional. There is a single volume, but it doesn't provide the commentary that the six-volume set does. The price is good and this is one of the best commentaries you'll ever find.

Classic old Bible Commentary
These volumes are fairly small, but the text is not too small. I was worried that, being written in the 18th century, I would not be able to understand some of it, but Henry's commentaries are quite understandable and well-organized. I love the robust commentary as he goes through each chapter and verse of the entire Bible. This is the first commentary I've owned (I know there are lots out there). I'm glad I purchased it. It brings a lot of the Bible to life in ways I could not fathom. Henry is a creative thinker, and uses analogies, links to other passages, and spiritual lessons to discuss each passage. You cannot help but profit from such a compendium!

Classic commentary
Quality of the books is acceptable but honestly does leave a little to be desired. However the contents found within are very useful and a classic resource in the commentary genre. Although this is an older commentary it remains a valuable resource.

Excellent detailed commentary, but the print is a bit hard on the eyes.
Excellent, well detailed commentary. I’m able to really dive into the content of my Bible and dissect the Word. Lots of scriptural references and historical knowledge to explain Bible verses. This is a great buy for anyone looking to get a deeper understanding of the Bible. Only drawback - the print is tiny. Looks like maybe a size 9 Typewriter-like font. I’m a millennial with contact lenses; I doubt my mom would be able to use this. I have never seen print so small in a book - looks almost like a book of footnotes. Beware if you have trouble reading fine print. Other than that, the content itself is superb.

Arrived in Perfect Condition.
If a person only wanted to buy one multi-volume commentary of the whole Bible, Matthew Henry would rank as the most popular and most recommended. To expand upon this set from authors of similar time period, you might try to locate the 6 volume set by John Gill, the 14 volume set by Albert Barnes, the 6 Volume set by Adam Clarke, the 3 volume set by Matthew Poole, or the 3 volume set by Charles Ellicott. However, these sets are very expensive, so if you wanted to just pick one set, Matthew Henry would be the lowest price one of the bunch.

Matthew Henry based his notes on the King James Bible from 1611. The only Bible in the English Language that has not been biased by one perticular group or denomination. If you want a solid Bible commentary to guide your thoughts and stirr your thinking in God's word, then this is the commentary you want to have. Trust your King James Bible above the words of men, keep that which is good and leave that which is contrary to God's revelation. Very easy :)

Ive been studying the Bible for 33yrs now and have always been lost when doing a deep dive researching specific topics. Since there are so many conflicting and illogical interpretations that fall outside of Biblical Parameters. But Matthew Henry's Commentaries are ALWAYS on point, in detail...he will never steer you wrong.
