I purchased three of these masks for my family during this summer's wildfire season, which unfortunately continues to burn only 8 miles away from my home. These 3M Half Face-piece Reusable Respirator Assemblies make the smoke bearable. The fit is snug, but not tight and can be adjusted to fit different face sizes. The feel of the mask becomes more comfortable over time than surgical-type masks, which tend to lack suitable air exchange which holds in vapor (ie: sweat). The filters which are pictured on the side of the respirator (pink in the picture, but we received blue ones with our masks), are easy to attach to the mask. You will need to purchase new filters as these get soiled, but the price is reasonable. Notches on the respirator correspond with those on the filters and it's a matter of lining them up and twisting them on. The connection is very secure and the filters do a great job. These respirators are superior to the basic paper face masks, and obviously work well enough to be used in multiple situations, for multiple uses. I would recommend these masks to anyone who needs a step above the basic filtration that a 3M 1860S Particulate Respirator and Surgical Mask, Small, Box of 20 provides. People with asthma, COPD, the elderly, children and those with autoimmune diseases would benefit from using this mask in smokey conditions. Under normal circumstances, those who are into crafting and woodworking, using sanders, paints, and varnishes, would also find this respirator assembly a helpful safety basic. These masks do come in sizes (S,M,LG). I purchased 3 of the medium size, and it seems to fit everyone (all average sized 5'4-5'10, average weight), just fine. I highly recommend this quality 3M product.

This saved my wood working career. I have worked with wood for 40 years, never had a problem, never wore a mask. I began turning with the lathe and almost ended up in the emergency room- luckily I had a nebulizer for the kids at home. The exotic woods are very hard on the respiratory system and you must protect yourself. I now own four of these (one for each of my kids and a traveling one). The mask is reasonably comfortable, it fits over your head with two loops of the plastic strap. I have a small hat size and it fits me fine. It is light weight. It can get a little warm after several hours. I find that I don't like wearing it more then 4 hours straight. Once adjusted I haven't had to adjust it again. My glasses fit fine under the straps and if I'm using safety goggles they strap over the mask and I haven't had a problem. I've been using it over a year and have not had to change the filters. The outside gets dirty and I wipe them off with a damp cloth- you can't get the filters wet. The filters twist on easily and twist off when I wash the whole mask in water. I now use an air filtration system in the shop but used this by itself and never had another problem breathing.

I was worried about purchasing a respirator-- I've used masks before (those little semi-disposable white things you get to cover mouth and nose while painting/spraying things/doing heavy duty cleaning), and they tend to make me feel claustrophobic (and the last one I used seemed to make my skin itch uncomfortably for a while after!) I was really pleased with this, though-- it's lightweight and conforms gently to the face in a way that forms a seal without cutting in uncomfortably. The filters do their job but I never feel like I'm struggling to get air through it. Since the primary reason I bought this respirator is to avoid the allergens that trigger my asthma attacks (secondary reason is for spraying sealants while doing art projects), it's important that it be comfortable and easy to breathe in. I only wish I'd gotten it sooner! (plus, I have received compliments on the fact that the filter pads being pink make it 'cute'-- my mom and a couple friends were pleasantly surprised that such a utilitarian item could be kind of cheerful looking, at least by virtue of having a pop of color. So I guess there's that.)

I've been fitted for a respirator at work, but wanted to use this as an accessory for my Jesse Pinkman (from "Breaking Bad") costume for Halloween. I can't obviously take supplies from work, so I had to buy my own someplace, and as usual, Amazon had the item I needed at a great price with Prime shipping! This mask requires you to install the pink filters separately, which is quite easy to do. Just push and twist a quarter-turn. Then you adjust the straps so it fits on your face snugly. The particulate filters that come with this mask are only rated for keeping out dust and other airborne debris. Further on that point-CHECK THE FILTER: these filters will NOT keep out organic vapors (like paint fumes), you will need to get the canister style filters, and be very certain you know how to fit this mask properly at that point. A good fit test is to put your hands over the filters firmly and breathe in: if the mask "sucks in" around your mouth and nose, you likely have a good seal. If you can feel/hear air coming in around the mask, you do NOT have a good seal and you'll still be breathing whatever contaminant is in the environment. As for the sizing: I'm a man, 5'9" and 180 lbs, but my face is fairly narrow, so this size worked for me. If you have a larger/fuller face, you would probably need the Large, and if you're very petite/slight built you would want to try the Small. Note that the packaging is not resealable, so once you've bought it, it's yours!

I started doing wood working as a hobby and after reading about the safety requirements I wanted to make sure my lungs would be protected from the fine dust that is generated when cutting and sanding wood. Initially I thought that a cloth mask would be good enough protection, and that's what I bought first. I believe the cloth mask worked well and I was happy creating my first things in wood. A few toys (tools) later, and after reading some more about the subject I realized that for about the same price this mask would be a better option than the cloth mask as it would guarantee blocking 99.97% of the fine particles. Who knows exactly how much the cloth mask blocks? So I decided to buy this mask. Knowing that this mask is produced by a reputable company, that it is NIOSH approved and that the air that flows into my lungs has to first go through the 2091 P100 filters gives me complete peace of mind. Now I can continue with my woodworking without concerns about my lungs. After having used it many times for long periods I realized that this mask has other significant advantages over the cloth mask: My goggles don't fog like they used to when using the cloth mask and breathing is also easier. One difficulty I had when deciding for this purchase was the correct size for me. The recommendation is to fit different sizes in the store. I ended up choosing the medium size and I'm happy with it. It fits well and there's no air leak between the mask and my face. I'm 5' 11'', but YMMV.

I'm a photographer with a varied style and subject matter, including rusty, dusty abandoned locations. With being highly allergic to dust and other fine air-borne particles (we're talking sinus infections within a day with little exposure), and working around potentially dangerous substances, I needed a respirator that would fit well, get me into the locations with confidence, and keep me safe. I tried a few disposable masks which worked well and kept me from sinus infections. However, buying a new one for each location became too costly, and sometimes, they're hard to find. I didn't want a full-face mask that might obstruct clear view of my camera settings and other equipment, plus I wear glasses, and admittedly am a bit claustrophobic. This mask is the perfect solution. It fits securely over my nose and mouth. It's lightweight and comfortable to wear for the hours I spend on location for my photography and it filters out all the potential nasties that I could come in contact with. I haven't had a sinus infection since using this mask. Being rated P100 for asbestos, I am confident that it will also filter out any essence of vermin and critters in the locations. I wear it slightly lower on my nose so that I can also wear my glasses without difficulties. When I'm done shooting, I simply remove the filters and discard them and wipe out the mask. It does collect some condensation after breathing in it for so long. I let it air dry before storing it back in the ziplock bag, which keeps it dust-free between uses. I'm very happy with this mask and recommend it for anyone who is in contact with, or who is highly sensitive or allergic to, potentially dangerous air. This mask is NOT rated for vapors, fumes or pharma use. Make sure to know what the proper ratings are for your specify use.

I bought these back in January but still wanted to leave a review. Great product and great seller. I bought these for my family and loved ones to use especially during this time period but also to do wall work. It has greatly helped to keep my family's lungs safe from debris. The fit is good you have to just work on the straps and make sure that the mask sucks in so that there are no gaps so that the fit is right. What I'm really happy with is that it came with the P-100 pink filters for each mask. I am a petite 5'1 woman with a relatively small face so the medium size did not fit me I then purchased a small. The medium sized masks fit the men in my family well even though they have different face / nose shapes and it fit my boyfriend who is tall. I do find that if you have a very protruding nose bridge this mask might still be uncomfortable even though it is known to be a bit more comfortable than other masks. When considering to use this for prolonged use I recommend that you will have to just give it a try. I believe it will fit nicely for most people now if you have a larger more prominent nose/nosebridge it will . I'm very thankful to the seller thank you for getting back to me with my questions.
