Finally! Should be on the shelf of every antique longcase clock owner and those who repair them.
This is the essential guide for those fortunate enough to own an antique longcase clock or those who endeavor to repair them. For the owner of a longcase clock, this book will give you insight into the 'hows and whys' of the movement itself, where to locate the clock, how to detect a problem that indicates a need for repair, and an appreciation of the workmanship and artistry behind the case, dial, and movement . The owner may not be mechanically confident enough to remove the face, inspect the movement, or clean the mechanism but a little bit of clock knowledge will be invaluable when choosing a competent repairer. For those restoring and conserving longcase clocks, this guide covers every aspect of workshop procedures, tools and equipment, materials, casework, dial restoration, dating the clock, and cleaning the movement. Occasionally, even the most experienced repairer needs to check themselves to make sure their shop procedures and methods are appropriate for these old clocks.Nigel Barnes and Austin Jordan have presented the subject of the antique longcase clock in a manner that will appeal to the owner and repairer alike. The subject tends to be rendered either dry as dust that glazes over the eyes of the layman, or of little use to the servicer. Here you have a rare presentation that is of value to all. One that will sit atop the stack of other clock repair books for easy reference.

Thanks for writing this, Mr. Barnes
I have a German Mauthe longcase clock from the 20s. I bought the book for a better understanding of it.
