Works well
This was recommended in an artist painting class. I have been practicing with it and found it to be a very useful inexpensive tool.

Locks too loose, no identification of proportionsno instructions.
I purchased this product because it came with extra plastic locks. They did not provide a tight enough fit to keep the two arms from sliding apart. There are no proportional markings.I am not returning because I was able to use painters tape to provide friction as a fix.

It's a teeny bit"wobbly" due to being plastic- but it's fine and totally manageable. It's fun to draw with the help of this tool!

These are okay. They're pretty flimsy so it's easy to lose your proportion. I was hoping they'd be stiffer but took a chance.

Elegant proportional scale received without instructions
I received this elegant proportional scale without instructions (although I could figure it out). Instructions were sent on request and I also corrected two errors in the scale diagram which I understand will be used in the future..

Works as advertised. Works great.
They perform exactly as advertised. The big advantage is that the placement of the pins in the hole means there’s no slipping and changing proportions during your work. The downside is the pins only fit in discrete holes so you can’t choose any proportion —just a select set of proportions. For the vast majority of people needing a proportional divider I’m guessing these are perfectly fine. For me when I’m going to transfer a drawing two pieces of artwork paper I don’t have to have an exact proportion just close and then lock it in for the remainder of the work and I’m good. If however you need a particular specified ratio then a different kind of divider might be appropriate. However I’ve heard that the ones that can be loosened and adjusted to any position also have a high potential for slippage. That would ruin a piece of work potentially.
