When it comes to the matter of teaching kids about sex, Christian parents are often confused about what to say and when to say it. The Talk is a series of 7 studies, all anchored in the Scriptures, that helps parents to talk meaningfully with children about sexuality. The Talk was written for parents to read with children ages 6 to 10 years old. The study supplies elementary-age children with foundational truths about sexuality at a level they can understand. Review: Exactly what I was looking for!!! Love how each topic is covered in the book & the online videos to the parents! - I have maybe only done 1 other review on desertcart, but I had to leave a review on this book! Especially since I knew there would be moms like me that would love to hear about products with a Christian perspective that would help us as we raise our kids (especially regarding sensitive topics) , so here I go... Recently my 8 year old daughter started asking me questions that I knew would inevitability lead us to "the talk", you know..."the birds and the bee's talk!" While I still see her as a little girl (and deep down always wish she would stay that way), I knew I had to take the initiative and introduce these topics to her before some other school friend does, and I am left undoing bad information! So I began researching and asking friends what kind of books/resources they might have used to help! I knew that when I had the talk with my mom is was clear that she was embarrassed and that it was a taboo subject, which inevitably communicated to me to not ask her anything about it again. While my husband mentioned that his father began the talk by saying "this is just the beginning of an ongoing conversation..."!!! So, that is what I was looking for...something that was Christian based, something that helped not make it embarrassing or taboo, and something that communicated that this was "just the beginning of an ongoing conversation." To my huge delight, I came across "The Talk: 7 Lessons to Introduce Your Child to Biblical Sexuality" which checked ALL the boxes AND MORE!!! Not only did it approach the topic the way I had hoped but it was designed so that you and your child's focus is on how AMAZING God is and his design for us! The book is written as a devotional to be read through over 7 different days/nights with your child, and it is also written as a script for the parent so that they feel comfortable walking the child through the topics. It covers why & how God created males and females, how babies are made & develop inside the womb (with links to the most amazing videos), the importance of marriage & their bodies, as well as much more. There are also videos for just the adults! The videos are the authors talking directly to the parents as to how they can go about covering each topic. They also go more in depth and even help with ways you can address topics such as Homosexuality, Transgenderism, Pornography, Abortion, etc. They do a great job addressing these topics in a very quick and biblical way, not coming across political or judgmental, and always stressing God's commandment to love one another! I have already began this devotional with my daughter and it is amazing!!! When I was first going through it on my own, I would get so excited to share stuff with my husband. Of course you can imagine how funny he thought that was, but after he started going through it with me, he was excited to think about starting the devotional with our son! Review: 100% recommend - I just got done reading this through with my 9 year old daughter. I have been dreading this conversation, but I knew with her going into 4th grade it was time. I learned about sex in 4th grade from other kids, so you can imagine it was very skewed. I wanted my daughter to hear it from me first in a biblical manner! This study covers everything from the sexual act, babies, adultery and sexual abuse. It gives all the scientific, anatomic terms, and is very straight to the point, BUT it explains TRUTH and the way God intended it to be, with scriptures backing it all up. She of course was shocked to hear it all, but she really understood, and handled it all in a very mature way. I also feel it opened up a direct line of communication for us. Parents don't skip on this study, and/or conversation! Especially in this day when the world has perverted sex, and is teaching our children lies!

Excellent! Excellent
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! - It was straight to the point. Based on Biblical writings. I think lesson 2 was the most difficult. My husband and I read the book before introducing the lessons to familiarize our selves with the questions. As a family we have family devotions daily, so I think that helped a lot. The children are used to open discussions with us after Bible reading. The book brought out a lot of questions. It also opened up the opportunity to speak about rape, inappropriate touch, sex under the covering of marriage and purity. To be honest we had the delayed the talk for our 13 year old and I think now it was wrong. We should have done this, as it is recommended by the book - start age 6 and go from there. See how much your child knows already. We monitor everything our children watch and read - and we were surprised just how much they perceive from commercials, magazines at the grocery store stands, friends and cousins. We did the Talk with our 6,8,11 and 13 year old children. The 6 year old had no difficulty understanding that this is part of God's plan for us. I think it was more difficult for our 8 year old, she was very upset and said "there is no way you should expect any grandchildren from me! no way!" - we allowed each of our children expressed their opinions, emotions and ask as many questions as they wanted. We took our time with each lesson and even divided them in to two sections. ( By the end of the third lesson, where we explained the beauty, love, joy and God's blessing with scripture our 8 year old had changed her mind about not getting married and having children - she said maybe she would get married after all.) Our 11 year old and 13 year old just kept saying that it was disgusting and such, but as the lessons progress and they see the beauty of God's plan and creation they were thankful to God for his plan. Thank you for allowing God to lead you in writing this book! We had searched and researched the topic, and how to approach it - read books and articles - but not other book compares to this one. This is the one we chose to introduce our children to the 'Talk' and could not be more content with the results. God Bless!

Foundational Building Blocks that Dive Right In
This book helps parents break the ice, not crack it or dance around the subject, and begins to lay a biblical foundation in regards to sexuality. It first starts with an introduction for the parents and helps them determine if their children are ready for this study. The author recommends ages 6-10 (Page 2 explains why the seemingly young age is recommended, using child abuse statistics to back his reasoning and why parents should be having these conversations with their children.) The author continues on to help parents who might struggle with the fear of saying too much, swallowing their fear, and explaining that this is just the first of many conversations. Each lesson has scripture reading associated with the lesson and ends with questions and prayer. -Lesson 1 covers anatomy providing male and female anatomy diagrams from a side angle. -Lesson 2 discusses basic intercourse and how babies are conceived, mentioning terms such as erection and ejaculation. -Lesson 3 teaches how a baby grows in the womb including diagrams. -Lesson 4 discusses the goodness of sex in marriage and the bond formed between and man and a woman. -Lesson 5 provides a biblical understanding of why adultery is wrong. -Lesson 6 covers the extremely difficult topic of rape and sexual abuse. -Lesson 7 explains the importance of honoring God with our body. The last part of the book discusses what parents can do next to build on what was taught. Even though we bought this book a couple years ago, after reading the introduction to the parents, we decided to wait until both of our children be taught together and a little more mature for the content, which worked for our household needs. We replaced our usual morning devotional before starting our homeschool day and covered this material during the week we were off from school so we weren't rushed for time. Though some of the material can be a little embarrassing to cover we made sure not to water it down because we felt it was important to the lessons being taught. It helped that I could just open to the lesson for the day and just read the material presented. It was a great introduction since we hadn't really discussed sex before in this kind of detail and I wouldn't have known where to even begin. We already have the next book in The Talk series, Changes, and will be purchasing the last one, Relationships, at a later date.

Excellent resource!
Excellent, biblical resource for discussing sex, conception, and intimacy within the context of marriage as God intended it. For those needing a script, it is provided. For those who are a bit more at ease but still need some guidance in what to say, how to present things, and want scripture references and tie- ins, this will be just as helpful to you. Very tastefully done. Broken into relatively short and easy to digest lessons. I have all 3 books in the series. We started with this book in 2016 with our oldest, who is 8 years old. We made the time special. Each week, after the younger kids were tucked in bed, my husband and I would set out hot water, tea bags, and an array of sweet and savory snacks. We all helped ourselves, curled up on the couch, prayed, went through the lesson, ended with prayer, and spent a bit of extra time just talking about whatever our son had on his mind. He LOVES our weekly talk times! The lesson could take anywhere from 15- 30 minutes, depending on how many questions our son had. The book only has 7 lessons, but we all enjoyed our weekly times and we have continued with them. This week we started with the second book in the series, Changes. Our goal is to teach godly thinking and behavior and to keep clear and loving lines of communication open throughout our children's lives. Thank you, Mr. Gilkerson, for helping us on our journey!

Great Intro — 4.5 Stars
The is a perfect intro book. However, wish there was more information of what biblical sex actually points to (knowing God in Christ fully) and that it is a physical bodily covenantal reenactment of the oneness in all areas. If we get God wrong, we get sex wrong and vice versa. Physiologically the only mistake I noticed was on page 6: Eggs are not produced, they are all there before going through hormonal changes, instead they are released. If you don't know where to start, this is a great and simple outline to follow but make sure you elaborate on all parts.

Much better information than worldly sources
Super easy read. This book is an amazing resource for teaching kids about biblical sexuality. Delves into biblical perspectives and creation instead just a worldly perspective. Ive already lent the book to a friend. I love the lessons and interactive pages.

Good book, but expensive for what you get.
It’s a good book. So far my two kids have been interested in the lessons and have asked good questions. I like that it is scripted, and very matter of fact. Definitely has a strong biblical foundation. I have always spoken very openly and honestly with my children about their anatomy and their bodily functions, so this book is a natural segue into discussing sexuality. Please don’t be afraid to teach your children about their bodies and sex- you owe it to them to fully educate them on these things before the fallen world does. God called His creation GOOD! Our bodies are good! Their functions are good! The only thing I’m a little disappointed in is the size and price. For $15 I was expecting a full size book. This is a thin 38 page size work-book sized book.. Seems a little overpriced, especially for a family on a budget, but regardless- I still highly recommend!

Sound biblical teaching
We really wanted a book biblically based to talk to our kids about sex. This covered all areas whilst taking us through different verses and allowing open ended questions with them. They were very receptive to it. Really happy with this boom. Would highly recommend.

Great Godly and informative book!! Highly recommend!!
Excellent book! Nice and simple explanations but loaded with good, Godly information for parents. I love how it references scripture to explain what is being taught. The 3-Step free YouTube video that it recommends (also created by the author and his wife) was very helpful too. I highly recommend this book for any parent wanting to talk to their child about sexuality in a Godly, appropriate and informative way.

Vertrauenswürdig
Sehr gut geschrieben, gut durchgedacht, nicht zu explizit, beantwortet alle wichtige Fragen in dem Thema. Ich freue mich, das ich dieses Heft gefunden habe.

Quality Christ centered conversations
Excellent. Made hard topics easier to discuss and talk through with kids, and love the way it talks about your identity in Christ the whole way through and emphasizes God's love for us on every page

The Talk: 7 Lessons to Introduce Your Child to
Does not help a bit. I does not give any sexual information, the figures are shameful very unclear, hardly to no readable. It just give a few Bible text, but does not at all help parents to give a child a christian sexual education. I had to search the internet for sexual education and pictures/photos, This is just a waste of money.
