Does this come with a chart showing number of "clicks" and type of grind? (coarse, medium, medium fine, etc.) Or has anyone figured that out?

Hi Mike,Thanks for the question! Every one of our grinders comes with a detailed instruction manual that goes over various grind types needed for different brewing methods. As far as the number of clicks for each grind size, here are a few additional guidelines from our team of baristas for you to follow. Turn the adjustment knob all the way to the right. Each number below represents a "click" to the left. Coarse: 13-18 Medium Coarse: 10-12Medium: 7-9Medium Fine: 4-6Extra Fine: 1-3 The art of hand grinding your coffee includes finding the perfect size for your preferences, so use these as a starting point to create your own unique brew. "How many cups of coffee is this thing built to make? How long would it take to grind enough for a 12 cup coffee maker?"

Filled up to the top, I usually got 26-28 grams in there.  That could make roughly 1/3 of what you'll need for a 12 cup coffee maker, so plan on repeating the process at least 3 times.  As far as time goes, save your time and find a better grinder. By hand you're looking at 2-5 minutes depending on grind size.  With a drill it's under one minute.  The real problem is the finished product, the JavaPresse produces a horrible mess of terribly ground coffee.  By design, the bottom burr is not held in center placement at all.  
Don't buy a JavaPresse, you can find the identical grinder without a brand name for $12 if you really like this style.  Have a nice day.

Electric vs manual coffee grinder?

I find that electric grinders (a Braun) don't give as consistent a grind as the JavaPresse. It's true the electric is easier and less time consuming, but it only takes about 3 minutes to grind enough coffee for a 500 ml French press with the JavaPresse. That's part of my morning coffee experience so make of that what you will.
