So why does the box say no alcohol and the second ingredient it an alcohol?

Great question! Alcohol, as defined by FDA’s cosmetic labeling, is specifically ethanol alcohol. Our product does not contain ethanol alcohol. It does contain ingredients that belong to the family of chemicals that falls under alcohol, which do not have the same drying effect of ethanol alcohol.

I have used this excellent color as root touch up by using a root touch up bottle from Sally’s Beauty. You could also use a bowl and brush. As long as you divide the solution in half and as close as you can, the tube of colorant, it’s easily done if you tightly cap each part for use next time.

How long does the hair dying process take?  Where can I see the instructions?

It takes me about an hour from the time I open the box until I am done rinsing out and conditioning my hair, but it will depend on several factors for each person.  If you're trying to cover roots, it'll take a little longer than if you are simply changing from one color to another shade, because you do the roots first, wait, and then do the rest of your hair, and wait again.  The time you leave the color in also varies, depending on how dark you want the color to be, the condition of your hair, original color, etc.  Applying the color and rinsing will probably also take you longer if you have very thick hair.  The instructions say the dye should be left on for a maximum of 45 minutes combined total.  I do 35 minutes for the roots and then just 10 minutes more once I pull it through to the ends.  You can probably get the instructions by contacting the seller or going to the Schwarzkopf website and contacting them there.
