Great Pan
This is a really good quality, made in USA, pan. The heat distribution is very good and it retains heat very well. I bought the pan because I wanted to try All-Clad to see if I liked it and I wanted to buy something that didn't come in the 10 piece set because if I did like it I intended to buy that set. I now own the 10 piece set, this pan, and a steamer insert. You do have to learn to get the heat correct and use oil when you cook but when you get it figured out it's a non-issue. I can fry perfect over easy eggs without issue now. Clean up is not an issue either. A good scrub with the sponge is usually enough and if it's not then a little bit of Bar Keepers Friend will make it like new again. My wife and I both like to cook and we cook in our kitchen almost every day. I was tried of buying a new set of non-stick coated pans every couple of years. I'm not worried about that now as I know these will last a couple of decades....probably longer.

Great product
October 2016 update - I returned the original pan and then decided to repurchase one with a lid based on continued good reviews. The handle takes a little getting used to, but now I LOVE this pan.It cooks so well and can go right to the oven.Wish I could afford more of the All-Clad line! Original review: I bought this based on a product review from Cooks Illustrated, which I have found in the past to be very reliable. This is the most uncomfortable cookware I have ever encountered. The handle is so badly designed that I thought it was on upside down - SUPER uncomfortable to hold. I suspect that the pan is very sturdy and would last well, but it will be awful to use. It is also VERY large - when full it will very heavy and the awful handle will make it very hard to pick up. Also - for this price it really should come with a lid! Do not buy until you can find a sample and see if it is really what you want.

I love my pan, but I don't cook everything in it
This is a great stainless steel pan. It heats evenly and you have to take a little time getting use to how quickly it will transfer heat. I'd start off a notch or two down from what you cook on with most other things until you get use to it. It's stainless and stuff sticks to it. I would never cook eggs or bacon in this pan for example. Get a cast iron pan for that sort of thing; it works great once seasoned and they are super cheap. If you're sauteing onions or mushrooms and making a sauce this is a great pan for fond. It's not a non-stick pan though; not by a long shot; but what it's great at, it's really really great at.

this pan is 50 cents less than when I bought it (and I got a great price on it
Right now, this pan is 50 cents less than when I bought it (and I got a great price on it, IMO!). Buy one NOW, splurge on yourself, or get this as a gift for someone special. I had been coveting a high quality 12" stainless steel pan for a long time, but I didn't want to spend $150. I really wanted to try All Clad as my other stainless pieces are Cuisinart and Farberware. This thing is beautiful and well made. Just realize, if you're new to stainless, it's not non stick, but that's fine. You can deglaze the pan by pouring liquid into the sticky onions or chicken (por ejemplo), and that makes a nice jus. Then all you have to do is let the pan cool, add some water and dish soap, let it sit for a while, and everything comes off easily.

Big and useful
Perhaps I purchased a larger one than I required, but the extra size will come in handy for those larger dishes. Too new to give more useful comments, but appears to be just what one can expect in terms of good quality and potential of being a long-use fry pan.

12" Pan - Versatile, Heats Quickly and Evenly
This pan cooks as well as I expected it to, which is flawlessly. It is rather lightweight (though I am used to cast-iron), heats quickly and evenly, and is useful for nearly every sauté and sear I need to perform. I use it every day for vegetables (rarely above medium heat on my gas stove) and sometimes for meat. It does everything my cast iron skillet does, but can be cleaned with soap or in the dishwasher. (Cast iron is still fantastic--don't get me wrong!) I have seen the price of this pan bounce around quite a bit lately, so pick it up when the price seems reasonable to you.

Doesn't live up to the brand.
I bought this pan for an investment and possibly replace nonstick pans for good. But I couldn't tell the difference between this high end brand and a cheaper one. It is made well but doesn't clean up very well. And there's a lot of upkeep needed to keep it looking nice. I'm not sure I will spend this much money for a pan like this.

I've given up on "non-stick" pans, and am switching to stainless steel.
I've had several brands of non-stick pans. None of them remain non-stick for terribly long, and you really can't put them in the dishwasher. Prior to non-stick pans, I used aluminum ones. The only problem with aluminum is that over time, the bottoms tend to warp. Not good for use on my current glass-top stove, and not good for even heat distribution. I noticed that professional kitchens use a lot of stainless steel. I've begun switching, and this is currently my favorite pan for cooking. A little oil keeps it non-stick, and it goes into the dishwasher, no problem. The try-ply bonding seems to be the answer to any kind of warping problem.

quality item
I used to fry my mushrooms on iron cast frying pan (on water of course!) as a safe alternative to non stick pans. After frying on this pan I've realized that iron cast pan was adding metallic taste to mushrooms. Amazing pan!

Even and fast heating
This is now my default frying pan. Quick to heat, even heat distribution, easy to clean. I appreciate the size (one batch cooking). A bit too heavy to pick up, but that’s a small price to pay for the great usability. Highly recommend.
