Extremely good item!
This one made a world of difference in playability and sound in my practice. Very nice and not to heavy as with many carbon fiber products of similar design. Highly recommend it for your student violinist. Great value for the price.

Suitable for beginners or as a backup.
First of all, I'm very much a beginner on stringed instruments, so take this with a grain of salt. I received this bow in good condition and it looks fantastic. My roommate also plays violin so I can compare it with her old, German wooden bow. As far as sound and I feel they are comparable enough. My mostly untrained ear (I play other musical instruments but just began violin) can't hear much difference. For beginner purposes, the main difference is the weight of the bows. This bow is heavier overall. On top of that, the way the weight is distributed makes it little clumsier. When I play the tip feels like it's swinging around compared to my roommate's bow, which feels more balanced. The difference is minute, of course, but bear in mind that you're constantly making precise movements as you play, so I would guess most any beginner would feel it. But, though the difference is noticeable, this bow is more than suitable to learn on for beginners or as a sturdy backup. It's not going to impede anyone's learning if they are set on getting good at violin, and it will probably work for experienced players that need an indestructable backup bow. For the price, I like that I can learn on it for a year or so (I can already tell I will want to upgrade in the future), and I don't have to worry about loosening the strings when I put it away, or overtightening it when I play. Even after I upgrade my bow, I will be happy I still have this inexpensive one as a backup, and if this is all someone can afford at the moment then it definitely wouldn't be a waste of money.

My firsy bow. Seems nice. Thought it was broken until my teacher told me about rosin. Love the sound I get from it

Well made bow
I am a professional violinist. I’ve played since I was five years old. I teach violin. I have purchased two of these bows now. They are weighted well. I highly recommend this bow.

Lovely bow for the price
I've only been playing violin a few months but the Glasser bow that came with my Yamaha V5 student outfit is really subpar, even for a beginner bow (it is mostly plastic). While looking for a replacement, I came across the Viotti bow here on Amazon and, after reading the reviews, decided to give it a go. It arrived this morning and I've already applied the rosin and run through a practice session. I have to say, the sound it produces is quite nice (I'm new to violin but not music studies in general). As for bow hold, it's very easy to get a proper grip on it and it slides nicely across the strings, unlike my Glasser bow, which feels unwieldy no matter how I hold it. The Viotti bow feels far more balanced and natural in the hand, in comparison. To top it off, it looks stunning! I love all the mother of pearl on it.

Very fine bow
I bought this bow in April 2022 for $58. I have six bows with one that cost $364. To me they are all good. If I need another one it will be the Viotti. I started violin when I was 8 years old and I am now 95. I played off and on for most of those years but got very seriously into playing about 15 years ago. and since then I have recorded over 200 hundred pieces from Broadway, hymns and popular. I have gotten into producing CD's with those pieces in a modest studio. I give my music to friends and so far they have not run me out of town. I now play the electric violin because I can do this without disturbing my daughter, with whom I now live. I love the violin and plan to play it as long as I am able. I have an editor and I do a lot of work on my music before I am satisfied with it. I use a digital recorder and have a pretty good production setup.

Buyer beware returns are difficult if bow is damaged
I ordered this bow as I needed a second bow for my violin. Received a damaged bow severely and it was a very difficult process to get a resolution.
