Great shoe
I originally purchased this shoe for hiking on rocky trails based on reviews. However, the more I wore them, the more I liked them until they became a daily general purpose shoe. The fit, comfort, and support are very beneficial to my diabetic feet even after several hours of standing. The soles have a great grip on rocks and quiet soft tread on hard floors and, strangely, I do not remember any undue cling to carpet as with one shoe I once owned. They show far less wear than expected after almost two years of constant wear.

Good product, will loose internal purchase when wet.
Sooooo close!! First time merrel buyer but Ive purchased many hikings boots. Still to this day the first or second itteration of the NB minimus was exceptional for my type of hiking/climbing/swimming/jumping. These are very sturdy, very comfortable. After a few hours of breaking them in I would have to tighten them. Fairly normal right? Well once water hits the INSIDE they're done, they become very sloppy and must be completely dry before climbing. No matter how tight you lace them they will slip around. Not for climbers who are sure footed people. So basically any moisture IN them, including sweat, drastically changes your purchase and will mess your established form up. If your a climber of any degree avoid these and get some huggers. But if youre backpacking and just hiking casually these are good to go. Good product just sloppy.

Nearly perfect, but for a couple of small factors.
I was on a mission to find the "perfect" shoe. I needed something that would stand up to a lot of abuse in unforgiving environments. I specifically did not want a waterproof shoe as I needed excellent breathability due to frequent extended wear (>24hr at a time). Something tough as nails but comfortable enough for intercontinental flights. I looked closely at dozens of different shoes from every vendor in this space. Bought around 5 or 6 different ones (thanks Amazon try before you buy). This shoe was hands down the best in all categories. Super comfortable. Breathable and cool in even the most uncomfortable climate and the longest of extended wear. Incredibly tough and confidence inspiring in the roughest environment. The only thing I don't care for is the loop lace eyelets. They will wear out before anything else on the shoes. I wish standard grommet eyelets were used, but I'm willing to live with it and just go easy on lace ups. You won't be disappointed in this shoe. Note: It runs about a half-size small (order a half-size larger than you normally would).

On my third pair. Great daily wearers.
The old pair in the photo has more than 18 months of daily wear on them. They've held up very well. The rear strap is broken and the laces tips have heat-shrink tubing on them due to my dog chewing on them, not the quality of the shoe. The interior worn part happens on all my shoes and is the reason I bought a new pair. I can still use the old pair for yard work. Good shoes in my experience. These are much more durable than the running shoes I used to wear for daily work.

Really solid shoe for working and hiking
I needed a comfortable low-cut shoe for yard work and walking/light hiking, and I had had good experience with a Moab hiking boot, but I ordered that boot a half-size larger than my usual 9 M, and the 9.5 M fit perfectly, so I contacted Merrill and asked if I should do the same with this Moab 2 low-cut. They said yes, so I ordered it for a really good price on Amazon, and it fits very well. I might have been able to get away with ordering a 9 M in this shoe, but the 9.5 M fits well with plenty of room in the toe box but no sloppiness in the support. An added bonus is that these are fairly light, though a lot heavier than running shoes, very sturdy and stable, and, so far, waterproof. I have done some morning outdoor work in heavy dew without any wetness getting inside. These shoes are also fairly breathable. All in all, an excellent buy.

Great Colorado Hiking Shoe for half the price of most others
I love these shoes. They fit my wide foot perfectly and offer the rigidity and firmness I wanted while being very comfortable. And the price is fantastic. I almost dropped $150 on another pair but glad I got these. My only gripe is the shoelaces which are elastic to a degree and I found myself overtightening them. A minor issue which I will get used to and adjust accordingly.

Falling apart after 25 days
Update: Shoes never got any worse than that original sole separation and it’s 2024 and wore down the shoes. Good shoe after all…now they are my lawn cutting shoes. Overall liked these shoes. A little looser than expected, but comfortable and a good fit for a size 9. Seemed a little bigger than 9, but not worth complaining. BUT... The sole is separating from the shoe after 25 days with little wear. Bought these for a trip out west as my every day shoes. No hiking more than 4 miles on grass or roads...nothing major. The only rigorous activity was softball for 3 innings as a casual game with kids, 3 times during the week. (These were fun games with kids, not a lot of running). Does not seem serious now, but I don't expect these to last and I am thinking the sole will eventual pull away from the shoe...probably on a longer hike at worst possible moment...so they will be handed down to my son. So...1 STAR for these. But since they were below $100 and were comfortable, I'll give 2 stars. But since another pair of Merrells fell short, -1 for the company. I wanted to return to Amazon, but because they were worn I was concerned about a restocking fee. I could make them look brand new...but didn't want to shell out more money. I used to be a Merrell fan, and thought my hiking shoe that lasted 3 years with trips to Alaska and Ireland were Merrells, but just realized they were Columbia's. I am 0-2 from Merrell over the last year. Something tells me their build quality has decreased. I don't expect a refund or new pair of shoes because I wouldn't trust the new pair. These will get use cutting the lawn or as yard work shoes. I would not recommend these shoes, and recommend you read the reviews of any Merrell you consider. This shoe had good reviews, but a few had the same issues. I am thinking most people will eventually have these fall apart well beyond the time they would remember to post a review.
