When I received the Ocean's Balance Seaweed, it appeared to have mold on the leaves looking through the bag, which I was a bit disappointed.When I opened the bag up, I realized that the powdery substance was salt deposits from the seaweed.I felt so bad thinking it was mold that I wanted to write a review just to let others know it was salt and this product is very good!I added the seaweed to a pot of soup I made and it was delicious!

I eat Miso Soup pretty much everyday and wanted to buy a more locally sourced seaweed. I remember watching a 60 Minutes report on Maine seaweed business and decided to look for these products on Amazon. The "white" on the product is salt and this is mentioned right on the bag. I'm addressing this because of other reviews. I bought one bag and made the mistake of buying whole leaf when the flakes would have been fine. Still usable, but I have to cut it. I'm now going to buy more products to include the Wakame and Dulse.

As an early reviewer, I may receive a small gift card to review honestly. This is an excellent product. Flakes go well in many dishes to add a fresh brined flavor. I also add to rice for same reason. There is another brand I think I prefer but this one is very close in quality and at a better price. I will buy again.

The kombu flakes were as hopes. If you’re not familiar with kombu, this variety is on the thicker, tougher side. I purchased them because I was seeking an iodine food supplement. I prefer these flakes cooked in food rather than sprinkled on top because the flakes are still pretty tough. Great added to instapot recipies.

This is a quality product. The flakes are delicious and unlike other brands I’ve ordered, there were no shells or rocks hiding in the bag, just good clean Kombu Flakes. I use them to help my under-active thyroid: the natural iodine in seaweed is exactly what I need. It’s so good in soups and stews and sauces; its natural umami really brings out the flavor of food. And it’s great on top of popcorn. My vegan friends love it too! Will definitely be ordering again!

I use this to make traditional dashi. The product is beautiful and flavorful.

Such a great product: the Kombu has a rich, umami taste. I use it in soups and bean dishes to deepen their flavors. So much better than salt! And it makes a fabulous dashi for miso soup: I can really taste the difference with this quality product. I also love that this is from the Gulf of Maine: I trust the water there so much more than in the Pacific. I’ll be buying Ocean’s Balance products from now on!

Great product! I use it in my salads. To flavor my rice or just sprinkle on the avocado toast.
