Not very informatrive about design
Few photographs, narrow focus on the decorative arts.I would not recommend it to students. Other than the bright cover, it offers little.

Good overview
This is a great book for anyone interested in design history. There are foundational texts beginning at the Industrial Revolution that really set the groundwork for the rest of the book.

This is a text book. It was received slightly damaged on the lower spine, but not beyond use. Packaging could have been better.

Great book for understanding what is design
I read the book from the university library and ever since I have looked for a Kindle version. This book is full with references from many authors that you find it invaluable when teaching a course on philosophy of design.
