RENOVA MEDICAL WEAR Mastectomy Post Op Chest Pillow - Pink

I got FTM top surgery a week and a half ago and purchased this pillow in preparation- it has been a lifesaver. In the early days after surgery, it helped me stay comfortable during the car rides to get back to the hotel from the hospital, and to and from post-op appointments. I also used it in the car for the 4 hour drive home after my final post-op, where I was nervous about anything touching my chest as my dressings had just gotten taken off. It also has been helping me keep my chest safe and comfortable while sleeping. It helped me adjust to back sleeping, and since I have gotten home, it has protected my chest from my partner sleeping next to me and my cat who has been sleeping on my chest over it. :) The pocket was helpful when I had little mobility, so I could keep my phone close to me. It’s soft and comfortable, and not too thick, as that certainly isn’t what you want with this pillow. The price wasn’t too steep and it stays well in place due to the shape. I would recommend this pillow to anyone getting a mastectomy.

I'd consider this basically a must-have item after top surgery or a mastectomy; personally, seatbelts didn't bother me as much as I expected early on so I didn't necessarily need this in the car, but I can see it being useful there. It felt like a nice layer of protection and something to hold when I was in pain or getting zaps, and it kept my cats from causing me any pain (though they largely didn't try to lie down on me for the first few days post surgery). I'm 3 weeks post surgery as I type this and because I'm still sleeping on my back, I'm basically just sleeping with this on me every night and it's comforting that way; I honestly still have it kind of wrapped around me even if I'm sitting on the couch watching TV or at my work desk. The pockets on front and back are pretty helpful just in terms of pure storage; I was advised by my surgeon not to use any hot or cold packs (your mileage may vary!) so I didn't use them for that purpose or at least haven't yet, but I can see that being helpful. The only thing I don't like is kind of nitpick-y; the elastic straps are a bit frustrating. I guess I don't think there's really any way around it, but if you wanted to close the strap around you then lie down on your back to sleep, you'd have the plastic clasp digging into your back all night. If you're sitting up and have it strapped around you, the elastic does seem to loosen fast. But I don't think that's anything to be too worried about as a) for the most part, the pillow is staying properly in place when I sleep at night and b) if I have it across my chest as I'm sitting, I'm less worried about it totally fitting right anyway and it doesn't feel like the elastic needs to be too tight there. But in terms of depth of padding, overall size, and ease of use I really think it's a good product. It's made recovery much more tolerable, I'm sure.

I just had breast reduction surgery, and this is absolutely my number one recovery item. I'm able to take it on and off by myself (although it is easier with help). It gives me such a feeling of security, and it's super comfortable as well. I have 3 large dogs and while they are trained not to jump, things can happen, and I feel much safer wearing this. I also have drains on my sides so the side portions of this pillow that go under my arms are super helpful too. I've basically been wearing this 24/7 since surgery. There's a pocket in the front where I keep my phone, and even loose pills so I don't have to reach around for bottles - it works perfect overnight especially to keep my middle of the night meds! There's also a pocket in the back that's perfect for an ice pack. It's a good size for protection without being bulky, and it's so comfortable. 100 out of 5 stars, lol!!

Highly recommend this. I love that it's not too thick in bulky. I carry it around with me for protection post surgery. I use it in the car for protection from the seat belt.And when i'm sleeping on my back , I rest my arms on it. I love it so much great purchase.

I wanted to be prepared to come home and take care of myself after my mastectomy. Reading about what things others felt were invaluable, I considered this item. First, let me say that this is a nice product. It is soft, well-made, and comfy. I have no real complaints but I took off a star because it is a "like it" product, not a "love it" product. I didn't find it at all necessary. My pain was not bad at all and I didn't want to sit around hugging a pillow to my chest, nor did my doctors want me to. Though I could not be at full speed in terms of activity, being active is generally good for healing. Although not shaped ideally for this purpose, I am using it as a pillow to make my lower back more comfortable in the chair I typically sit in when reading. So it is appreciated and getting used nonetheless.

While this mastectomy pillow is designed for post-surgery recovery, I actually got it for a different reason—my pets are always stepping on my chest when I’m lying down! I needed something to protect my boobs, and this pillow works wonderfully. It’s soft, the shape is perfect for coverage, and it stays in place. Definitely a win for comfort and protection, even if you’re using it a little differently than intended!

I am having a double mastectomy in 6 months and have been looking for a mastectomy pillow since I got my surgery date a few months ago but I found them all to be overpriced (most were $35) so when I saw this one priced below $20 I was leery but decided to take a chance. It arrived today, rolled up in a storage bag (like a sleeping bag) but it fluffed up as soon as it came out of the bag. I have seen other people review pillows in this price range and say that there wasn't enough padding, but I don't know what their bar is. For me, this one seems to be thick enough. It has a couple of inches of padding that is evenly distributed. It also has an adjustable strap that goes around your back to keep it together. I'm not sure how I will fasten and remove it after surgery, but another option is to keep the strap looser and step into it (since you can't lift your arms for 3 months after surgery). There is an inside pocket (for ice packs or heat, I assume) and it also has an outer pocket for remote controls or maybe a cell phone (though the phone may overheat if kept in a pocket). Material: It's so soft! It's very plush-feeling, like velvet. I am postmenopausal, so I cannot speak to how warm it is, as I sense temperature differently than younger women or much older women. And I don't know how it will retain or release heat after surgery. But for right now, I wore it for a few minutes and it was just really comfortable and comforting. It was the best purchase I've made in a long time. Also, the cover has a zipper, so it can be washed. I plan to wash it before using, hopefully it will be easy to put the cover back on.

This pillow has been by my side constantly through the healing of my double mastectomy. Thankfully I purchased it before my surgery and had it in the car for the 2 hour ride home to prevent any problems with the seat belt. I used it while sitting in the recliner and when sleeping. It allowed for comfort and protection, and also kept my arms away from my sides to allow for proper drainage into the JP drains. It is worth every penny--and it has a cover that can be taken off and washed. Therefore, once I am done with it, I plan to wash it and donate it to my breast cancer center here in town for future men and women who might need it.

Couldn't find this cushion in UK so ordered from US. Totally amazed at how quick delivery was- delivery 4 days after order. Excellent packaging and excellent product. Lovely and soft and well made. Will be great for my post op recovery. Highly recommend. Update post surgery: this has to be the best thing I could of bought. This is so comfortable and supporting post surgery. Can wrap it under your arms to protect you and support arm after lymph node removal while watching TV, sleeping and riding in car. Highly recommended and so glad I bought it

Better off using a regular pillow than this flimsy piece of material with arm cutouts. Don’t waste your money! Painful enough that we need to buy something like this. Very disappointed that I won’t have a good pillow in time for my surgery now
