Won't work for OS X Yosemite!!!
Does not work with Mac Yosemite. I'd rather not have to go back to Mavericks because I use my laptop for more than just recording. Apparently there are some hacky fixes but Mackie has no updates for their drivers and it seems like this is a problem for them in the past. I think I'm just going to save up a bit and buy an Apogee. It's more expensive but they seem to care about keeping their customers up to date. I've contacted Mackie several times and they won't even confirm that they're really working on it. It's not even heavy enough to make for a decent door stop. On their Facebook page they just ignore everyone asking for an update...this is really annoying. Plenty of other companies have made the update...hire some college kid to get some school credit and have him do it. They had months of Yosemite beta testing. If you don't like updating your projects for Mac's then just don't even bother to offer them. These aren't tube amps where it'll be fine as is for decades. Software based hardware needs to be attended to and Mackie apparently doesn't care for existing companies.

Love it so far
The preamps are very clean and true tRue to the original signal. I got this to be able to record drums at my home studio and the first session was very successful. The sound quality was really good! I used it in combination with some out board gear and it interfaced great. I have experienced some pops during playback due to a lack of DSP on my computer but only when running a lot of VST UGINS. There is also a little bit of latency while tracking but not too bad. This is a great piece to use in combination with outboard preamps but not recomended for a beginner who wants to record at home.

Great Product, Attention to Detail!!
Mackie is great with making quality products. I have used several different types of audio interfaces through my many years in the music industry. It surprises me how many times companies will let big issues slip through the cracks. Mackie took the time to make sure these did not happen with this latest interface. It rocks the house with crystal clear recordings you can bank your money on! I hope you guys get this mixer while it is still available, it will last you for decades!!

Does not work with Mavericks
Does not work with Mavericks. I purchased this a few months back and was initially enamored with the quality/price ratio. Then I upgraded my imac to the new 27", 3.5 ghz w/i7 processor running Mavericks OS. Audio now plays for 30 seconds and drops out. Mackie tech support has not been overly helpful and they are historically slow to update drivers. If you have the new macs and Mavericks, I would not recommend this product until they address this problem. My edit bay is dead in the water now and I am looking for a new solution and will probably have to sell this on craigslist etc.

Mackie does not upgrade it's Mac drivers.
It's 2019. They haven't updated they drivers in years. Decent interface in 2014, but some of us must move on. The company is terrible and incommunicative.

Do not buy if you use Windows 7 64 bit
The box said it works with Windows 7 32/64 so I bought it. My computer would not see the device, after trolling the user forum (and finding many complaints about the box in Win 7 environment) it was suggested a different firewire card using TI or VIA chipsets be used. 40 dollars later, the Blackbird worked. For 60 seconds. BSod (Blue Screen of Death). Computer crashed repeatedly- took out the card, the software, the rackmount, computer is trashed. New drive arrives today from Amazon, reinstalling Windows and starting over with a Saffire pro 40. If that doesn't work, I'll leave a review as well. So disappointed in Mackie. And no, 5 days later still no response from tech support.

Will not work in any Windows 64-bit environment
For Windows 7 and Windows 64-bit users of any type, I've purchased several pieces of Mackie Onyx gear for a Windows 64 bit environment, and found Mackie's driver support to be non-existent. Check around user boards before you buy any of this Mackie stuff. Everyone is very unhappy. Mackie has no response whatsoever, and is ignoring repeated requests for 64-bit Windows driver support. This goes for Firewire as well as USB interfaces
