All Aboard for an Epic Train AND Ship Ride!
This review has spoilers.Pros: Very well written, with a good, interesting plot and a few subplots. Many characters from the classic series that haven't been on in so long make it in (such as: Donald and Douglas, Jack, Alfie and Oliver, Daisy). A real full orchestra was used for much of the music, bringing in an epic feel noticeable from the beginning, possibly my favorite part of this movie. Great action/drama/crash/adventure scenes! Sir John Hurt is very good at playing Sailor John, the film's villain. Although there are 5 new characters introduced to sell toys, the film is so epic and well done that it seems to be more than just the average Thomas marketing special. The Small Railway Engines are introduced to the show for the first time, originally only seen in Awdry's books. Many funny moments with Marion the steam shovel. I love the quality of animation in this film. A few wonderful visuals (for a Thomas film) and the water is just so realistic! Speaking of realism, some of the crashes are a bit unrealistic, but somehow it's believable in most parts. Since the crashes are so good, I don't even really care about realism in this case. In my opinion, this is the 2nd best Thomas movie of all, with The Adventure Begins taking first place. Also, it seems as if every single movie these days has some sort of romance as at least a subplot, even kid's movies. This one is clean of any romantic material of any sort.Cons: Sailor John is a very scary character at times for my 3 year old brother, but if he's encouraged that he's foiled in the end, he'll watch the movie through. A tot can tell he's nefarious and abusive. Although Sailor John is ultimately defeated, he seemingly prevails almost to the end, making it borderline for young kids.Overall, definitely a must-see for Thomas fans, but watch out for the younger kids. I would give it 4.5 stars, but that's not an option. The 5 stars are for the good writing, the awesome music and the great animation. Everything said, It is worth the $$$!

Another winner from the Thomas team
The previous movie to this one, Tales of the Brave, was I would say 'scary' to the intended target primarily from the visual scenes, and while our son likes the characters, will all but refuse to watch that movie, which was a big change from all of the previous movies. This one, with I would say a slightly more menacing to my adult eyes, adjusted the visual scenes to be less menacing to the child's eyes and so he likes this one much better. It features an even more over the top plot involving yet another cave-in, a pirate ship and treasure, and a skiff converted to use wind power on the rails -- but somehow keeps that Thomas magic. Our son will probably age out of Thomas after another movie or two, so hopefully they can keep up the good work.

What better way to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the whole ...
What better way to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the whole franchise then to introduce RWS characters into the current incarnation of the series (the Small Railway and the actual creator himself making an easter egg appearance), having old returnees return in this special (Donald, Douglas, Daisy, Alfie, Oliver-the Pack, Max, and Monty), having an orchestra take part alongside the current composers of the series, and references from the classic series shown here in this special? I'm pretty much sold on this special!I would pretty much recommend this to any new fan of Thomas or to the kids that are now young adults who grew up with this show back in the day. It's amazing to see how far this series came, and I'm glad I'm part of this world. Happy (belated) 70th Anniversary to Thomas and Friends. :)

Absolute Perfection
Great movie! One of the best Thomas & Friends productions since the show went CGI. 10 out of 10: masterpiece! The Blu-ray quality is beautiful. Thomas is stunning in high definition. There's a nice selection of language options, subtitles, sing-along songs, etc. on the Blu-ray, as well as DVD & Digital HD copies. I highly, highly, highly recommend this item.

THOMAS "Legend of the Lost Treasure" Blu-Ray
My toddler loved watching this movie. He kept trying to name all the engines as they came on the screen. Currently, a screen time of 126 minutes is a bit too long for him; he kept getting distracted away from the movie. So we have to watch it in 15 to 20 minute spurts. I am assuming as he gets older he will be able to sit longer as he begins to understand the story line.

Great movie especially for the parents who sit through it
Thomas the train is an additctive drug for toddlers, and I have a 4 year old who lives and breathes Thomas the train. I dont really like the older cartoon but this movie was really good. My son adores it and the movie was entertaining even for an adult, which is really important considering your child will make you watch this on repeat for 3 weeks straight......that is not an exaderation. This is definitely one of the better Thomas movies along with Tale of the Brave.
